Morning all,

Does anyone have any thoughts as to why Strava isn't working on my phone?

I keep getting a "Sorry, Strava has recovered from a problem" message, and it seems to be killing recording the instant I turn the screen off and put the phone in my pocket.

I've turned off auto-pause, but I'm not sure what else to try?

The usual, delete and re-install the app.
Strava often freezes I sometimes have problems after taking a photo it fails to restart so you get home with half a recording.

I had the same issue because of power saving settings for the app got enabled in Android. Check the app has Optimized and not a Restricted battery profile. Also check the Background Usage Limits in the battery section and remove it from the Sleeping/Deep Sleeping Apps list. I added it to the Never Sleeping Apps section.

I think this may be the answer. I'll check next time I use it, having just put it on the "never sleep" list. smile

Got the same phone and Strava doesn't give me any grief. I also have it in the "remove permissions if unused", but still works fine.

Sometimes Android pops up a message saying something like 'we noticed you have not used these apps for a while would you like to put them to sleep?'. In my case it had suggested Strava amongst others and I blindly clicked ok, so it got put on the naughty list.

I have the same phone and have no problems running Strava except it often 'spikes' on the location when recording an activity leading to a false distance measurement. I cannot work out why, none of my other phones have had this issue. Seems like a GPS bug.

You need to set your phone to use GPS only for the location services. When it uses GPS, WiFi and Mobile networks it pings the mobile towers somehow and strava tracks the pings as distance ridden.

I did once manage to achieve 215kph using this method though..
