Well, they do in El Salvador.

I remember his talk about the Ten Commandments and the implication that prior to this moment we were roaming around in amoral fashion, the man was a god, oh hang on!!

Life begins at conception? A single cell is sentient?
It's a single cell for a matter of hours.
So when it’s a couple of hundred cells it’s sentient?

This, sadly.

It's like they are sliding further back in time with each major decision.

I mean, if its what they want, then fair enough. Their gaff, their rules, but it all just seems very regressive and divisive.
You do have to wonder what the next target would be. Same sex marriage / relationships and contraception have been mentioned in one of the judges concurring remarks..

Hey, they've only got to repeal another 19 years of progress and they could go back to racially segregated schools!

One of the biggest mysteries in life is how I can know so many nice individual citizens in such a barbaric nation?

That's not what I'm saying.

I'm saying some people believe life begins at conception and they are entitled to that belief even if you disagree with it.

That is correct, they are entitled to that belief.

They are not entitled to force others to adhere to that belief.

Imagine the state telling a man what he can do with his body, there'd be a carnage.

Abortion should be provided on balance. Only the most reductivist mindset thinks it's some form of easy birth control. It's a hugely difficult and traumatic decision for a woman, but it is hers ultimately.

Are anti-abortionists saying that the state effectively forces a woman to give birth? that is can force an individual into what is not a risk free process, with life changing (and extinguishing) consequences for both mother an child? Pregnancy isn't getting a tattoo, it's fraught with danger.

Even in the event of rape or incest (which really, nobody consents to incest)

I agree with that point even though I don't agree in any way with today's decision. What the decision does illustrate is something utterly weird about the US. i.e that this has happened under a Democrat president.

I'm guessing some of the proper nutty states that already had trigger laws ready for this are also looking at ways to make travelling out of state to have abortions or having drugs delivered from out of state illegal. Of course for many that's simply not going to be an option financially anyway.

There are going to be some truly horrific stories that come out due to this in the next few years. Madness.

But they are entitled to campaign for laws that support their belief.

Yes, they are, but as we all know, the Supreme Court isn’t a representative democratic body, and so this decision is the imposition of beliefs of a minority on the majority. Everyone knows it.

Religious extremists should not be imposing their views on the rest of society.

Sadly there appear to be a lot of religious extremists in the US

Not necessarily. It's that they are committed, vocal and organised.

This has been a long time in the works.

It's motivated by religious fundamentalism rather than any welfare considerations

Well, in America, they are. Madness.

Hmm, I cba to explain how Biden has no legal mechanism to affect this judgement, has condemned it very strongly, and it was set in motion entirely by the previous president.

But, as this is common knowledge to anyone with a basic grasp of us politics, I have to assume you're just trolling for attention?
