Genuine question, at the start of this war Russian Tanks proved to be extremely vulnerable to aerial drone attacks.
Do these Western tanks have some sort of drone defeating technology onboard, or does their armour alone guarantee protection?
I know bugger all about this except what I’ve read in the past six months online. From what I have read the intention is for Ukraine to operate a “combined arms” manoeuvre…..so artillery, IFV’s, MBT, air defence and some sort of air support too,….as well as mine clearing, obstacle breaching equipment. I assume that would include whatever tech they have to provide some sort of defence against drones. Do these Western tanks have some sort of drone defeating technology onboard, or does their armour alone guarantee protection?
I stand to be corrected on the date...
Thought some might find this interesting.
Deeply impressive.

As I understand it the Ukrainian army have been training with NATO forces to use NATO tactics since 2014(?) so now they have the tools hopefully they can finish the job

Well yeah, but NATO's entire OP assumes air supremacy. Ukraine won't have air supremacy.I stand to be corrected on the date...

Was it worthy of comment, obviously triggered you with your 'tripe'' comment, unable to deal with a different point of view? The big issue? Isn't that sold on the streets?Big issue on here seems to be the constant reveling in googling info to celebrate the latest armaments being supplied to continue a conflict which politicians, had they been doing any kind of job could've tried to prevent in the years after '14?
The actual irony is your unable or unwilling to recognise that the west as a whole hardly has the 'high ground', Russia bad,West....just as bad, Ukraine being used up to deplete Russian resource, keep the military complex/ contractors topped up in funds
You’re adding a whole bunch of assumptions into your post there. I just fail to understand how you think the west’s invasion of other sovereign countries is wrong, yet are ok with Russia doing it. If someone says the invasion of Iraq is wrong (false WMD) then so should Ukraine (fake Nazis all over the place). Both are basically similar cases to me. Instead you condemn the west in both. The actual irony is your unable or unwilling to recognise that the west as a whole hardly has the 'high ground', Russia bad,West....just as bad, Ukraine being used up to deplete Russian resource, keep the military complex/ contractors topped up in funds

2mins editing with basic apps creates something more credible that an abrams was destroyed in Ukraine!

I hope so but we're told combined arms warfare is bloody difficult. I wonder if it's too big an ask for Ukraine to learn this so fast. I really suspect they may be relying on ad hoc tactics. And perhaps that's good because if combined arms can be learned quickly we have to assume that Russia will have worked it out by spring. And I reckon if both sides are reduced to ad hoc tactics that will strongly benefit Ukraine.
Yeah nah. Ukraine has been training people with the best combined arms experience. They have already fragmented into private armies and this will only get worse the bleaker the outlook becomes. As the need to be the next leader becomes a reality, the others will bring him down.

A T-72 also only has a 4kph speed in reverse.
That feels to me like the biggest flaw of the lot. Speed of manoeuvre must frequently render the armour needless. The Soviets always planned to fight on the offensive so smaller, lighter, faster and no need for reverse in combat.
NATO planned for a defensive fight on the ground, so heavy armour, fast acceleration to enter and withdraw from firing positions.
