International organisation like the United Nations (UN), which she says no longer has "a purpose", are also on the chopping block.

I agree with this but getting rid rather than keep it around in a pointless state is only going to cause even more upheaval which we don't need

Its funny that in her LBC interview she slags off 'having' to do a BBC interview when she was PM - yet she has done a BBC interview when she wants to promote herself.

Absolute .

Maybe address some of the disfunctions, rather than throwing out the baby with the bathwater? Russia's ascension to the USSR's vacant seat on the security council would be front of the queue for me, arguably India has more claim to the seat.

It has already been sidelined by other supranational organisations. If you want to do anything you go to NATO or the EU or make a bilateral agreement, not the UN. It's a 79 year old organisation which was set up to deal with the problems and the world of 79 years ago and it's no longer relevant.

Reform is an option but nobody wants to lose position. If security council seats were up in the air then Britain, France, and perhaps Russia would be out, India, the EU, and the Middle East would be in. The permanent security council is flawed because it allows the big players to do anything because they veto everything that goes against their interests or their allies' interests.

Let’s NEVER forget that this is the actual choice of the Conservative Party members.

Sunak was a default replacement.

Truss was actually their woman.

Says it all really and the 20% or so of people who will STILL vote for the tories this year, are probably the same people nutters who wanted Truss.

Look at this utter drivel. She’s talking about HERSELF and Sunak. Both unelected by the country;

Cracking interview Liz, plenty of likeminded people behind her too.

She blamed the BoE for the crash that wiped out 25% of my fathers pension her planned "mini budget" that spooked the UK money markets caused.

Crazy woman claims Trump is a better defender of Ukraine than Biden.

I'm fascinated to see what sort of person the Tory members will select to follow Rishi.
They've tried a lying clown, they've tried a lettuce-adjacent fruit loop, they've tried a spineless technocrat...

My money is on a watery tart waving a sword next, coz that's as traditional as it gets.

Like her or loathe her, Truss appears to be the only UK politician with any ideas, the current PM and Leader of the Opposition being spectacularly bland and clueless by comparison. Despite her downfall people are still talking about her - witness the MSM articles and this thread.

However, instead of discussing those ideas and supporting/destroying them with logic and fact we just have detractors playing the approach of name calling and applying labels to anyone who sees any merit in the ideas “nutters” and the like. This is, of course, just a sad attempt to shut down debate by those who actually support the toxic cancel culture that pervades society these days.

Whatever happened to sunlight being the best disinfectant?

She's hanging with the far right and sucking up to Trump while blaming everyone but herself for her downfall.
In broad daylight.
Is that enough sunshine for you?

What a loon. Really, I don't know why anyone takes any notice of her.

Is she not the ultimate free market advocate, who as soon as she came to power was entirely engulfed and sunk by that free market reacting to the nonsense that came out of her government?

The utter entitlement that ‘I was born to rule’ runs so strong with these Tory psychopaths.

Any rational person who screwed up so badly would never come out from hiding ever again. She’s on some sort of victory lap.

Liz Truss - The least self aware politician to bend our ears with drivel that she honestly believes to be true!

The lettuce would have won by a mile in a vote between the two of them.

I kind of agree with the sunlight comment but in this case she's been hanging around with one convicted criminal whilst he calls another convicted criminal a "hero" as well as single headedly having seen billions wiped off peoples pensions.

You're quite right we shouldn't be talking about her but for some reason the Conservative Party don't seem capable of standing up to the likes of her and Braverman and Johnson and telling them to simply "shut up and go away" as they are doing their already slim electoral chances more harm than good.

If you're Sunak right now you're not looking at Truss and thinking we should listen because not to do so would be endorsing cancel culture.

You're literally thinking "please just stop".

It was the sunlight exposing her stupidity and arrogance that resulted in her tenure being so short. And all her actions since then have highlighted how completely unfit for office she is.

Also the reason why people are still talking about her is because she continues to demonstrate her stupidity and her arrogance, e.g. by supporting the likes of Bannon and Trump

Except her "ideas" are a load of bky click-bait and other politicians do in fact have plenty of ideas. It's just that they're rooted in boring old reality where there aren't any quick fixes and it isn't always someone else's fault and real fixes involve all of us having to graft.

I wonder if the authors of this drivel laden book which called UK workers feckless and lazy, could have ever foreseen how utterly trashed their reputations would be by now.

You really do have to step back and view the last ten years as absolutely astonishing.

Can anyone think of group of ‘authors’ so utterly disgraced and less deserving of respect in 2024? laugh
