Shocking news, and absolutely gutted.

Such a huge personality and character in rally and wider car culture.

Crikey frown
He certainly was one to push the boundaries, but these people never seem mortal and it's always a shock when it goes wrong.

Absolutely crap news, what a start to 2023 for the motorsport arena, his family and his friends, been a fan for years, never heard anyone utter a bad word about him, never a diva and never a dhead, truly lived life to the full and did it with immense pride and a smile, he lived life right, he lived his life and those that followed him have seen a great leave us.

Godspeed Ken Block.

I know this is a thread for blind praise, but he wasn't exactly universally popular or perfect and neither were his efforts. The comments on his gymkhana videos showed that.

Unexpected news though.

Genuinely saddened to hear this sad news this morning.

Definitely a big part of popular car culture over the last 15 years or so. Also, seemed like a really nice bloke and a family man too. frown

Indeed, the tributes from those in the industry who knew him who are incredibly touching and personal, he clearly had a massive impact on so many people (the Chris Harris tribute is lovely).

Shocked indeed to wake up to this news, I was only reading about his snowmobiling exploits on his Instagram the other day.

He always struck me as a cool guy who absolutely lived life to the full, I was hugely entertained by his videos and marvelled at his car control.

If there is a heaven I hope he has arrived at the pearly gates in a haze of tyre smoke, drifting his way through sideways.

This indeed, proper twist in the stomach moment when I saw this on the BBC just now.

I still can’t quite believe he’s died. Have no idea why it doesn’t feel real. I’m not even a huge fan of his (I’d say indifferent at best) but there is something surreal about it.
I know what you mean.

Woke up as we all did to see this news, I'm shocked at his passing. He was one of the great action sports guys and although lived life on the edge it was always very calculated and within his limits, exactly the same as Pastrana in their mentality, probably why they got on so well.

RIP KB #43

Big difference between people who met him and people who commented on PH or YT following his latest Gymkhana video. NOBODY receives universal praise on comments sections online, but of all the people I know who have met Ken in person (mainly photographers) I've never heard a bad word at all, no ego at all.

Such a terrible shame to hear this morning. Been watching his stuff since Gymkhana 1 and he always seemed to be a kind, affable bloke, who just loved his cars.
