O noes.
I'm off to find the smallest violin I can find so I can play a very sad tune for all those in this article.

I think it’s been discussed in here, but a lot of people will have TV, internet and mobile phone subs going up by as much as 18% from next month.
I know it’s in the contract but I’ll be making calls!
Blimey, I’ve missed this one been too busy with gas electricity and the hiding we’ve just had with council tax..I know it’s in the contract but I’ll be making calls!

Maybe those "normal people" would have gone to Miller and Carter last year?
indeed. the Sunday roast at my local pub in Manchester has gone up to 23 pounds per person. single course.I was baffled too - I always had it down as a bit of dump, but vast swathes of it are now really rather nice

We’ve had E-mails from O2 and Virgin media, increases are RPI + 3.9%. Problem is RPI is given as 13.4%.
ETA: got a month to do something about it
I don't have virgin media anymore but a mid range broadband (300meg) and TV package is going up 25 quid a month.ETA: got a month to do something about it

fk that. In Manchester?

I don't go here but its the tone of the month:
https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/whats-on/f...
Manchester was cheap when I started to come here in 2014 but its not much cheaper than South East London now, for some things like, eating out.

I’m gonna put it out there that the mother of all recessions we were in for has turned out to be nothing of the sort.
People kept saying wait til this wait til then and the dates all came and went til we are left with an economy that’s flat lined and not been in recession at all.
Certainly we have inflation but even that hasn’t got close to the 18% many expert thinktanks predicted.
We spend more on some things yes but there’s been no mass repossessed houses, people haven’t had there power cut off and others aren’t starving.
It all seems like another example of mass hysteria that never materialised for most and I’m conscious that for some times are hard.
But haven’t they always been?

When I head back south now from where I originate I don’t feel any real difference in prices. Even more scary, when I visit Denmark I now don’t cringe at bar prices whilst I’m there. Seems the huge booze price rises have effected the U.K. far more than other places I regularly visit.

We randomly decided to go to Toby Cavery tonight. Absolutely rammed. Every single table had covers. We only got our table (didn’t book) on the proviso we were out in an hour.
It was horrible. But the food was alright. And CHEAP!
A random lady in the queue told us to download the app and do the 50% off. So our meal for 2 including drinks was £20.
Not bad considering. Might do it again but take some noise cancelling headphones. !
They also do Too Good To Go. Was about £2.79 for a meat carvery last time I checked. As long as you wanted a full Sunday lunch at 2000 on a Wednesday. It was horrible. But the food was alright. And CHEAP!

I went to the closest toby carvery in Jan, probably been three times in my life. I actually thought the food was reasonable, and with our young daughter we were very early so it was quiet - and she loved the food. 50% off what is already cheap as well. For the cost, and lack of prep and washing up, its quite appealing, and the food is probably better than some of the small pubs etc I've been to that in theory I'd prefer to support.
