Cost of living crisis is real, if anyone frequents Adenau, Pension Mühlenhardt (edgars) they’ll be disappointed to know he’s raised his prices. It’s now 35eur a night, was 30 in 2020!!!!

I hate to sound thick, but what are ‘mixes’ in the context of that menu?

Just so I’m adding something to the discussion, our local Fish and Chips plaice was £9.10 for a large cod and chips with curry sauce.
And boy was it good! (Southport, NW)

I had fish and chips tonight.

£12.30 for large cod n chips, that’s in Twickenham.

It’d feed two or one powerfully built PHer.

Completely given up on having Indian takeaway now given the enormous price increases (it's now just under £40).Now having Chinese on Friday nights which is a third of the price (£12). forgotten how nice it is !
Our preferred Indian hasn't changed much and its much cheaper than our local Chinese who play price increase bingo-you walk in and there's just a hand written side 'all dishes x extra' then another Duck £1.20 extra and so on.

We've just had an email off the Brewery they are increasing the cost of one product by £38 on a 50l keg which is ~25% increase. We can either either pass on the cost, absorb it or a combo of both. We've opted just to remove the product and get something else.....

That's steep! Price, not physique.

Outside the M25 here on tractor toting turf (Glos) a large cod'n'chips Iast week was £5.50 which I thought at the time was daylight robbery, seeing the price in Twickers I now consider it only mild extortion. Still, it was good enough to eat.

I think we’ve a winner TB!

Not seen large cod and chips at that price since I was working in Bratford in 2005.

£5.50 is remarkably cheap I’d say. I travel a lot when I’m in the UK and chips are £2 minimum everywhere so £3.50 for the cod sounds a bit fishy.

I’d be all over that.

I’m surprised that any powerfully built PH director isn’t ordering Haddock.

smile

It wasn't large cod <and> large chips, it was what what they called a cone of chips, smaller than a small portion. From experience albeit longer ago at this particular location out of town, a proper 'small portion' of chips is still huge. Don't recall the split prices , sorry. Total price is accurate, it was only last week and I was sober.

Nah, only in Grimsby smile
I miss skate and chips, can only find it available these days, and only occasionally, at one venue in London.

It was great as a teenager, Friday night roller skate disco at the YMCA then a chippy tea

Which really makes me think that this classic needs an airing ..

Going against the CLC...

I do 2-3 Butlins Big Weekends - essentially adult party weekends every year. Prices have gone up but they are fuller than ever this year. IIRC they hold 5000 people each weekend! Weekends are fully booked up way before they used to be and this is still a good £500+pp weekend

A friend wanted to do the Club100 karting series - an arrive and drive karting series. He says he is number 25 on the reserve list!

This CLC really does not seem to affect a lot of people, yet.

We are past the peak but it is a bit early to proclaim victory. Food prices are up by around 17% year on year and domestic energy costs are only being held down by massive government subsidy. Wages are starting to respond as well.

Isn’t it due in the main to the drop in fuel prices which the Chancellor wants to increase by 12% ?

I think that is a 23% rise in fuel duty, increasing the price by about 12p a litre.

That one is a bit unusual in that the legislation is in place for it to go up by the RPI but then this is usually cancelled every year (since 2010).

I can see them restoring the 5p cut in fuel duty that was an emergency response to the pandemic but if they put it up by 12p it would be further confirmation they have given up on the next election.
