The EU only have 1 university in the top 10 in ‘Europe’, and 2 of the top 50 in the world.

Any guesses where 8 of the top 10 are in ‘Europe’?
Based on that the UK must be the technical, engineering, and manufacturing giant of Europe. Except it's not. Guess what the ST index is designed to favour the university structure of the UK and US.
It’s best situated regionally for a 21st century economy, having de industrialised and is advanced in de carbonisation, so yes I suppose Eastern Europe could well industrialise and compete with cheap Russian fuels… oh wait.. oh that did not work with Spain or Southern Italy either when they had access to cheap mineral fuels. Must be Brexit.

If free movement is good for young people, why wouldn't it be good for everyone? Sure, it's an improvement on today's situation regarding movement between the UK and EU, but if you're admitting that, then you're also admitting that the pre-2020 situation was better still.

What was the point of Brexit and all this again? We've taken 10 steps back, and now we've made one forward.
This is not free movement it is a time limited concession to allow young people to study and work in other countries.
If allowing young people to study and work in other countries is a good thing, why did we take away that opportunity in the first place?
We didn't as we already have agreements with 10 countries. We were also negotiating with individual eu countries. Critical thinking will lead you to the answer as to why it has not already been agreed.
Yesterday's announcement will help you...

Do we think the EU secretly misses the UK ?

Brussels will be the biggest winner with this under 30 deal, yet it could be contested due to age discrimination.
Ongoing political pressure may push the UK to making concessions.

& yes they certainly miss the cash from GPD/GNI ongoing and there cut of the Vat and customs charges..
Agree yes

What we've done with Brexit is this. We've burnt down our house without an insurance policy in place, and are now rebuilding it, brick by brick, as and when we think we can afford a brick. Meanwhile, we're living in a tent in the garden.

It's been an absolutely pointless exercise, actually it's been worse than pointless.
You are free to leave and go to an EU country if life there is so amazing byebye meanwhile 700k extra people a year added to this "tent in the garden" ...

We took it away from them at your behest on January 31st 2020. Then we started building it back. Are you now arguing that we were wrong to take it away and they building back of things which were taken away is a good thing?

What a waste of time and resources.

Good to see we've now got drug/medicine shortages, another example of Brexit winning, they just keep pilling up don't they, if this run of success keeps up I reckon we'll be back in by 2030 as the EU can't afford to have a failed state so close to its shores.

TBF, life in many EU countries is now so much better than in broken Britain - climate, food, roads, railways, pretty much all public services… It’s a long list really!

Disgusting comment. Truly offensive. We are talking about differences of political opinion here, nothing more.

Grow up and learn some manners and tolerance.

As it happens, I am free to go and live in an EU country as I have an EU passport as well as a UK one, but I choose not to because this is where my life and my family and friends are on the whole, and I actually take pride in my country and want to work towards and contribute to its renewed success, which I hope will happen once we start rebuilding those important ties with our neighbours and partners, and once the current shambolic, scandal beset government is removed from office. You're not, though, I imagine. Neither are millions of people who would like that right in principle and had it removed without their consent. And you've got the nerve to post wavey smilies about it.

It was neither disgusting or truly offensive. A little bit rude and juvenile maybe but nothing more.

Please get a sense of proportionality.

Sadly we cannot trust a word uttered from Labour mouths, SKS propensity to change his mind makes utterances worthless.

I’m pretty much the same, although I do spend approximately 50% of my time at my place in France.

Hopefully over time those red lines will move - with support from the electorate of course!

Agreed. And it’s a bit rich coming from CD, a poster who typically talks about Brexit supporters in derogatory terms.

Can’t see anything in the post which you have took personal offence, you must be super sensitive but willing to lash out far worse to others in your own postings.

If the EU proposal is blanket FOM across that age group I can't see how that works without driving down wages. That age group would always be the most mobile & without any form of restriction its likely to be a completely unbalanced arrangement.

It’s a fabulous idea for young people to be able to travel, study or work across the EU - you never worked a ski season in the Alps Womble? Should be embraced.
