I would be surprised if he gets voted out at the next election.

Regardless of your views on him he works hard for his local constituency.
Well he has another two years max to convince them that Brexit bonuses have been realised and that levelling up is working…. Personally I think he’s toast.
It's a traditionally Labour seat but one that has seen UKIP and Lib Dems close in the past as well as going Conservative in support of Lee A as a local (and briefly after a by-election in the 70s).

Anything could happen in two years time ...

Fantasy. He's toast.

Haven't read all the thread. Lee Anderson used to be Labour, so isn't particularly known for his principles. He also claimed some of the largest expenses (may have actually been the largest) for an MP recently.

That said, I do think he says what he thinks and doesn't pander. A north midlands MP of this ilk though is in a fairly small minority at Westminster.

I doubt he stands a chance of getting in next time round. Ashfield has been Tory only once before which was a bit of an aberration. He got in because the Brexit vote was strong, plus having the ex-mining background helps in Ashfield among the older generations.

A breath of fresh air and someone who will be an excellent chairman.
I must confess to being a bit surprised at his appointment I thought Boris Johnson should get the job.
Clearly Rishi is fine tuning his top team and selecting those he thinks weill be best. It's often easy when you have a wide range of very good team members to overlook some people in favour of more wildly known names. Rishi hasn't taken this approach.
I say jolly well done Rishi and good luck to Mr Anderson.
There hasn’t been a piece of political satire this well written or dry since The Thick Of It.

For clarity ... I hope you are right!

Nothing surprises me with the state of politics in this country though ...

What I find amazing is that a bunch of apparently smart politicians got together in a meeting and thought that Lee Anderson was the right 'answer'. Absolutely amazing series of 'own' goals over the last few years.

If the answer is Lee Anderson I worry what the question was.

Oops ignore me, apologies Cold - re-read your post and got the wrong end of the stick.

Lee Anderson though - think the Private Eye piece above says a lot about the quality of the man. Unless Private Eye are also the MSM now somehow.

She claimed she was going to sue him and launched a fund raiser to garner the money required to bring a lawsuit (despite continually stating her (Jewish) lawyer worked on a "pro-bono" basis)...

Mind explaining why you mentioned the lawyer was Jewish?
It seems pretty obvious why sadly.

I'd got the wrong end of it I think (although it reads badly) I think the point trying to be made is that Jack Monroe was at pains to emphasise how Jewish her lawyer was (although I'm struggling to find anything other than oblique references online).

Yes, she has made that claim - sometimes during a fit of narcissistic rage when suggesting she has consulted legal advice on a Sunday evening. The claim about the lawyer's religion has now become a meme and a source of ridicule for her critics. The lawyer's religious beliefs or even their existence is still an unknown for certain.
As with many of Monroe's claims it's probably best to treat such a statement with scepticism until definitive proof is available.

On a separate note, don't do drugs kids.

There will be much more to this story of defamatory skullduggery
For example how can we be sure there is no Russian or Chines involvement in this. Mr Anderson's facebook account could have been hacked by foreign agents.
From there it's really quite easy for the agents to post stuff as and when.
I would not be too quick to take this as face value. Lee is a powerful man, a principled man, That's why Rish looked to him to be Chairman.
Apart from foreign agency involvement I can imagine Lee will have made several enemies along his political journey
If Rishi has confidence in him that's alright by me.

It was a brilliant decision by Sunak to promote Anderson to Dep Chair of the Tory Party.

If Liberals, Labour, SNP, Independents and Greens could have wished for anyone to take the role, it would have been him.

they're using him to stir up their anti-woke culture war as a distraction from their fundamental mismanagement of the country. They are puting on a clown show so they can hide.

MSM. You mean the type that has trained journalists & standards?

I’d trust them above weird little news channels & facebook friends..
Yeah. Some gullible fools still watch Newsnight and listen to Kirsty Wark & co when Jean who works in Greggs actually has the inside track on her Facebook page.
