As I noted earlier seems a moronic thing to comment on and a racist comment to make.
If the question had asked white people about black people would the question itself have caused outrage. I believe it would as fundamentally it is a racist thing to ponder. Just like the actual question asked.
We really are falling overourselves to find new ways to offend each other and allow racist comments to bubble up. Why ask at all. Would it have been better to ask As a black person did you feel threatened and or deemed by white people. In essence asking do you still feel equality has a long way to go rather than asking if the other group has a right to exist.
From my limited understanding from a little bit of reading about it I think "It's OK to be white" is a bit like when people were insisting "All Lives Matter" when BLM was headline news here.As I noted earlier seems a moronic thing to comment on and a racist comment to make.

As in it looks and sounds quite innocent taken at face value but very often the people saying it are doing to to provoke a reaction.

It does seem very much like these situations are being created where it’s impossible to comment on things without getting themselves into trouble.
There doesn’t seem to be any comment on the fact that 26% of black people polled thought it wasn’t ok to be white, that’s pretty racist.
Saying you should keep away from black people is a rather dumb thing to say though.
Lol minorities can say what they want though as it isn't possible for them to be racist.. White privilege and all that. There doesn’t seem to be any comment on the fact that 26% of black people polled thought it wasn’t ok to be white, that’s pretty racist.

Bingo. As in it looks and sounds quite innocent taken at face value but very often the people saying it are doing to to provoke a reaction.
The question is effectively "how do you feel about people whose response to genuine issues relating to racism is to regurgitate lazy whataboutism?"

"........Based on the current way things are going, the best advice I would give to white people is to get the hell away from Black people. Just get the fk away,” Adams said. “Wherever you have to go, just get away. Because there’s no fixing this. This can’t be fixed. So I don’t think it makes any sense as a white citizen of America to try to help Black citizens anymore. It doesn’t make sense. There’s no longer a rational impulse. So I’m going to back off on being helpful to Black America because it doesn’t seem like it pays off.........”

Adams lost it big time a coupls of years ago. Quite apart from the QAnon stuff, releasing a YouTube video claiming that Joe Biden was Satan may not have been entirely in the realms of sanity.

Compared to that, jumping to plain old racism is hardly a surprise.

It's a bit like Graham Linehan. Fantastic writer but more and more desperate and disgusting viewpoints.
Loved his shows, didn't realise some of his views!Odd collection of views though, pro abortion, NHS & atheist. But also anti-trans.
Lost his wife over it.
I have one of his books . I will have to have another look to see if I can spot any signs over the years of collected cartoons strips.
They seemed ok to me years ago.
Its probably quite boring doing cartoons about something you are probably pretty detached from now.
Maybe victim of the WFH culture. Maybe he WFH for too long.

This I find strange to even think, let alone say. I am a big fan of freedom of speech so in my mind he can say if it he thinks it, I just find it an odd mindset to have. Ie, religions can advocate similar thoughts on topics, and enjoy cultural/religious protection.
The trick is to just not have any views on anything that you openly share.
If pressured on it, just say you haven’t thought deeply enough about it to answer… then never do.
This is a new dangerous cultural thing. It was clear to see coming, but we’re now even doing it politically, forcing countries to be unable to be neutral on issues.
It’s a sickness of the Western culture.

Exactly.
He was free to say it and he said it and all those newspapers and companies are free to decide they want nothing to do with him and they have done.
It seems to have worked itself out quite nicely
That seems to sum it up nicely. I find it difficult to get worked up about. He was free to say it and he said it and all those newspapers and companies are free to decide they want nothing to do with him and they have done.

I’ve got most of his collections from over the years. The ones from the past decade are not as good in my opinion, although that may just be him running out of ideas. They seemed ok to me years ago.

Also, and this is perhaps a limitation of his drawing style, but has there ever been a black character?
