At some point will being outspokenly pro trans be the only way you can get and keep a job?
Will we have talented people doing difficult jobs or just some bozo that says the right things?
Like the blacklisted in mcarthy era USA I guess the linehans of the world can still do work out of spotlight.
Dilbert fella only seems to have that obvious cartoon.

I’ve got most of his collections from over the years. The ones from the past decade are not as good in my opinion, although that may just be him running out of ideas.

Also, and this is perhaps a limitation of his drawing style, but has there ever been a black character?
I think there is one in the cartoon series but it's been a loooong time since I watched them.

There was another comic writer (for the Telegraph I think) who went bat-st insane over Covid, too. I wonder if it's an occupational hazard of being a satirist that you can't tell the difference after a while.

Yep - Bob Moran. His brain snapped over the pandemic, the Telegraph gave him the heave-ho (which, of course, he took as proof of the sinister globalist plot against him) and last I saw he was drawing outright fascist propaganda cartoons where white families picnic on top of Bill Gates' grave.

I see someone bought the original print of 'The Good Reset' (the aforementioned piece of frolicking Aryans atop the mass grave of Bob's enemies) for £10,000.

That's a nutcase with too much money!

Also, I love that Bob included a crumpled copy of The Telegraph in the backfill of his killing field. So, so hilariously petty. Right wing cranks definitely have the thinnest skin of all. Bob must be almost see-through, like a new-hatched fish.

It's a bit like Graham Linehan. Fantastic writer but more and more desperate and disgusting viewpoints.
Loved his shows, didn't realise some of his views!

Odd collection of views though, pro abortion, NHS & atheist. But also anti-trans.

Lost his wife over it.
Can you quote something he said that was anti-trans? With context etc…
https://www.theguardian.com/culture/2020/jun/27/tw...

Enough context?
The Guardian, really, but that aside.

The only quote in that article was him saying “but men aren’t women though”.

Is that it?

Don’t engage.

It’s designed to waste your emotional energy on doublespeak while Rome burns around you.

The lack of vegetables to buy from shops is the latest canary in the coal mine…

Focus on what is in front of your face.

Everyone is being a useful idiot even debating this stuff with such concern, while people like Tony Blair or Donald Trump roam the planet on “our behalf”

When my son was at high school, the school organized Scott Adam’s to speak. He was a local to the high school and it seemed a nice thing to do. I managed to get a signed post it note with a Dilbert on it. Nice.

However, he was introduced on stage to do some sort of motivational speech thing but then went on a rant about kids these days and the breakdown of society. This would have been back in 2016/2017 or so. Afterwards he then had the opportunity to speak to the kids. That’s when my son got the doodle, but he said he as creepy and weird and waaaay to touchy with the kids. Just seemed angry about everything.

He was never invited back to speak at the high school again. His pattern of behavior has been going on for years and it has been increasing in its intensity. He’s totally gone off the deep end in the last few years and been increasingly isolated as a result. The area in which he lives is super rich, but I understand that his neighbors havent spoken to him for years. Not unsurprising that he’s ended up here.

Sad. Unfortunately this will get promoted as some sort of ‘cancelled’ thing. In this case, I think it’s fair. No one would care if he had kept his mouth shut. But no, he had to speak up and be the asshole. He’s the type of person that ends up being the crazy old guy that lives in a cabin.

I'd heard of Linehan but hadn't read much about him.

What a spectacular way to set fire to your own life yikes
Pretty much agree he basically went onto a platform that supports most liberal ideas and went on a "your a man" rampage.....why bother really why not just let people name themselves what they like and only when you meet someone do you make a call on if you agree etc. Race and Gender are just toxic debates (as we see in PH) were I in media I would not comment an if asked I would say its down to the individual. Its not what I think but I would like to keep my job

Dilbert has been going since 1989 and many of the comics in those early years were very funny. He had worked in lower management before writing them and that was probably why they were so effective at satirising the management culture of the time.

I haven't seen many modern Dilberts, and they may be just as funny today, but corporate culture is very different today. So perhaps time to call it a day anyway.

Youd be here all week reading his anti trans stuff. Just go look at his Twitter feed which he’s posting on for about 18 hours a day. He originally got booted off twitter for constantly harrassing people, he’s currently being sued again.

He’s a bin fire.

If you want just one example of his anti trans stuff, he joined a dating app that allowed Trans Women on there, pretended to be trans, then started posting pictures of people from the dating app on his blog.

It’s no wonder his wife left him and nobody wants to work with him he’s toxic.
