Should be fine if it hits a deep bit of the sea near New Zealand.

Obviously quite a lot of people might die, but over any ~ 100 year period, at current population levels, 7-8 billion people will die any way.

With a bit of perspective it suddenly doesn’t seem so bad.

if your son was at home
Crying all alone on the bedroom floor
Cause he's hungry
And the only way to feed him is to, sleep with a man for a little bit of money
And his daddy's gone
Somewhere smoking rock now, in and out of lockdown
I ain't got a job now
So for you this is just a good time, but for me this is what I call life

So,

Taking this post at face value, either

- the world unties to pool it's resources into a asteroid defeating mechanism of some sort ( a bit like Pacific Rim Jaegers, or the Arks in 2012). The wealthy portion of the world would probably have to accept lower standards of living for a while (the poor majority probably won't notice)

- in the absence of any solution to divert the astroid, it would be a case of either trying to "prep" my way out of it, or insulating my family from the worst of the societal breakdown that I expect to happen in the run up.

Frankly, if I was in power I would be seriously thinking about just not telling people - which is the approach summise in Deep Impact (the better of the two documentaries broadcast in '98)
NASA has already shown some capability in this regard with the success of the DART mission to the asteroid Dimorphos, twin of Didymos.

Hmmm.

Would supercar values go up, because everyone wants a last hurrah, or go down because everyone wants to sell assets?

I think prices would rocket because you can't take it with you. I know I'd be looking to spend every last penny I can borrow...

Make better life choices than repeating them as the same solution to the initial problem
