Snorting charlie and cavorting with prostitutes was a tall order even for a tory MP in the 80s. The wiki says that after the BBC defenestrated him he worked for Sky, LBC & ITV before retiring.

Genuine question- where does your "not so innocent" comment come from. Can you quantify it?

As far I know, nothing's been proved (or disproved) yet.

And nothing was ever deemed illegal either, despite what mainstream and social media was spouting.

Scandal is the right word? Middle aged married bloke in the public eye, pays young man for sexy naked pics. I think scandal is correct like it or not.

Not as bad as the BBC though. Or maybe PHers are better at not getting caught.

That's a fair description. Nothing illegal, but certainly damaging to professional image.

Blimey, he did that!!? It's very odd that a celeb could do something like that but hey ho...I'm not a celeb or want sexy young men pics!

On a sideways note:

Channel 4 have signed up Emily Maitlis to do their next UK General election night coverage

https://www.msn.com/en-gb/entertainment/tv/emily-m...

As I mentioned previously the last elections she did on the BBC her role was quite dull and tedious. She was under used and placed in a rather odd role.
I'm genuinely not sure but I don't really recall Channel 4 doing election night coverage before

Strange statement from the bbc. No thank you for his service, no wishing him the best. Compare that to the statement they made when they didn’t renew Clarksons contract (which in parts was gushing) and seems a bit odd.

laugh And of course if he'd worked for GB News no one would have said anything.
I know I'm a bit of a BBC fan but I agree with otolith. Some other parts of the media are desperate to slag off the BBC and PH sometimes reflects that.
And there's many people who are desperate to slag off GB News. He/you specifically mentioned PH where there are people who would dance ecstatically and sleepless around their houses for days if this was a GB News presenter.

Of course the same can be said for both the BBC or GB news but to think this story was only reported because Edwards was BBC is ridiculous.

Desperation isn't needed to slag off GB News. It's a joke channel only taken seriously by people who enjoy being told who to be angry at.

Clarkson made the BBC an absolute fortune, and his 'crime' was a scuffle after a long day at work.

TBH, it wouldn't surprise me if presenters abusing producers/hired help was absolutely 'the norm' in TV, and the Clarkson thing being treated like a scandal was purely because it was Clarkson.

After all, he did bop Piers Morgan in the face years prior and no one really had an issue with that

The media industry is pretty toxic. Very passive aggressive, self entitled, objectifying and riddled with simply the most awful creatures. Like other industries there are tonnes of great people and they comprise the bulk but it's just that the awful ones really are utterly despicable, arguably because there is little to rein them in and in many situations their terrible behaviour is pandered to, enabled and practically encouraged.

The BBC has had their fair share of animals in need to cattle prodding back to civilisation over the years but in my experience of decades in west and nw London and having these people in the vicinity and often at the table, most are drawn to the higher salaries of the private side and the more junk to reality side where terrible behaviour seems almost a requirement.

As for the JC difference, he owned a lot of IP so the BBC needed to give a more glowing reference but he was an egotistical bellend at his height and would have done well to have had a slap years earlier to bring him back to reality.
