And also this from the beginning 2nd last volume. Nice to see some consistency from start to end as well I suppose that it wasn't that people 'didn't know enough about the new virus' but rather they pertty much knowingly chose to do what they did all throughout.

It’s almost as if it was a very well orchestrated plan…..

fk me - who the hell reminded us all of Nick fking Gnome?? I suppose he enjoyed the trolling. The scary thing is, there are actually people in real life with similar views. Even though these tts realise how daft their viewpoints were, they'll never admit it.
Move on they say. Yep, thanks for my ridiculous tax bills & the double whammy of being an expendable essential worker whilst you lived it up on furlough.

Yes but remember he didn’t hide behind an internet “personality” like the rest of us so we should have taken notice of his sage advice biggrin

Everytime I see a garden gnome I am reminded of him wink

Er... well that would be me I suppose. Countdown's post about people who couldn't face the fact they may well have been wrong got me slightly amused earlier and B'stard Child helpfully putting out some old links coupled with some time skiving while bored at work got me reading a couple of old links and I thought it might have been useful to remind Countdown about 'what may have been wrong' and how much that was being accepted.....

Are the older volumes of this thread still online? I can't seem to go back more than a couple confused
Yes but if you navigate via previous thread links they get broken by retrospective moderation so you need to edit the links at the end to change to post 1 to make them work
Alternatively these should work

Original thread – Clicky

Slightly sad but it was a lazy Sunday morning and I had some time as the Forum was quiet biggrin
Good to be able to read some of the old ones of 'this thread title'. What of the original thread in January 2020 which was titled something along the lines of 'Coronavirus - are we all going to die?'. Anyone got a link for that, I can't find it.

Back to the above links.
Christ, forgotten about some of the 'ageists' who'd hoped those my age (ie: supposedly 'vulnerable' LOL) would snuff it. rolleyes
Here's hoping (you'll know who you are), that the generation following you are not quite so forgiving and decide perhaps, that 'oldies' (if you are of course 'lucky enough' to reach becoming an 'oldie') are not needed at all, and 'get rid of you'. That would be rather poetic justice wouldn't it?

How different to my generation back in the day, we most certainly didn't agree with a lot our 'elders' told us, but by fk, the difference was that we 'respected' them.

Still, times change, and not always for the better.

Ah good ol nick gnome, who was having a jolly good time on his boat, wonderful in fact. His granddaughter was a model donchaknow, and was luvving lockdown! Oh, and IIRC, teens struggling to with isolation and contemplating suicide was down to bad parenting... As his granddaughter was a model and having a wonderful time, just in case you missed it the first time.

Peak odeous IMHO.

Good. Then, perhaps, you could spend another two years of your time on here critically examining the contributions across all 18 volumes of the discussion in question that extend back four years and singling out each "loony" observation.

TIA.

Noone advocated anything of the sort. I am in the "if your time has come let's not spend 400b giving you an extra 18 months" camp though, possibly tainted by my father who has dementia at the age of 76. He's a tough old goat though and I strongly suspect he has survived covid twice thumbup

Glad you are still very much alive and kicking beer

And let's not forget there was a "DNR" order in place on precisely the people you describe - as it was deemed the elderly weren't worth saving, and they needed to free up beds for the incoming influx of healthy 30-49 year olds (which, for some strange reason never happened...funny that smile ) So they ran at 60% hospital capacity all spring and into summer 2020, aided and abetted by clearing hospital beds and sending (possibly) infected people back into care homes. If this was what you were getting at, my apologies...

Indeed. Loons like one amongst the 'anti-CT' lot loudly denouncing people here as liars still even today that confidently proclaimed things like this back in April 2020 from a related thread. As far as being able to have got nearly everything wrong in a post, somehow he actually did manage that. Quite impressive tbh.

Absolute fruit loops. And they are still saying the same kind of thing in the other thread 4 years on. They are totally done for. Damaged goods.

Well....... The bit about stones and glass houses might apply as well before you are quick to say it's hilarious about the fruitloops. To be fair, there was plenty of that from those aligned with your thinking as well. Lemmingtrain and gizlaroc were absolute fruitloops.

And in any case, it's actually not the true fruitloops (ruggedscotty/poo at Pauls) that are the issue imo. Coolbanana/Nickgnome and the most others from the self proclaimed 'truth' thread aren't actually fruitloops and there's the far bigger issue than just passing off that kind of viciously unpleasant behaviour as down to being a loon. It wasn't and it was very widespread. That's for me the rather more troubling aspect of the pandemic even if I suppose looking back I wonder why I ever was surprised. I suppose it's the degree that I didn't think would happen... scratchchin

That’s the thing though, regard someone as fruitloops, fine, but keep it to yourself. Personally I don’t, I see people with a different opinion. That thread offers nothing but ridicule and bullying, I’ve said it before, no idea how it still exists when I’ve got a ban just for quoting a post with no recourse. For the record I don’t want it banned or closed, if people find the need to behave like that, at least you know who they are.

That’s why I can happily laugh at their folly, they made that bed for themselves.
