jester

Not sure whether to post the Comical Ali or the Gunshow 'This is Fine' meme.
Chromegrill may well be a 'health professional, fairly senior level' (that could mean anything, assistant Head Porter at the local hospital, to GP at local practice?), who knows?
However, what I'm certain of is he certainly ain't in the English grammar profession...

yikes
Over FIFTY words in one single sentence with NO punctuation whatsoever, not even a measly comma. Phew!
I remember Chromegrill.

This is what they really think:

Chromegrill said:
The price I pay (as an adult with a serious underlying health condition) for your freedom to infect me due to your refusal to cover your face is my life. So yes, I could die for your freedom to go round spreading a serious infection when you know you can mitigate that spread through a cheap and simple intervention. But I don't think you realised how true your statement was.

I consider my life too high a price to pay for your freedom to take it away. So many people only look to their own circumstances when thinking about infectious disease, whether it's wearing face masks or for that matter having a vaccination. But infectious diseases don't think like that, they demand that we ask "what can you do for your country" not "what can your country do for you" to quote a famous ex-president of the USA. We all work together to defeat this, or some of us die during a disjointed free for all.

The sad truth is that this person may well be a medical professional involved in the COVID response at a senior level. This post shows, beyond any reasonable doubt that their views were emotionally compromised. Driven by fear rather than logic. This cuts through to the very heart of everything that went wrong.

The same 'medical professional' proudly argued that Astrazeneca was safe for young people, which of course we now know is completely untrue:

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

They also argued that COVID was a risk to the young and healthy, which again we now know is completely untrue:

If you asked Chromegrill and others like them now I'm sure they'd say that they were never in favour of mandatory vaccination, no Vax no job, Vax passports to leave the house etc, or at least try to downplay their support for them at the time.

I see it all the time, both on here and in real life. People who got very frightened, wanted everyone to follow every rule no matter how crazy, called for more authoritarian measures, claimed Boris was risking lives every time we reopened from lockdown....and yet now they try to pretend they never held those views, distance themselves from it, pretend it never happened and anybody that still talks about it is a conspiracy theorist.

I think it would be a simple task to embarrass quite a few in the conspiracy theories thread just by exploring posting histories from 2021.

A lot of the COVID zealots got into that position because they were scared.

In this case, we have a ‘medical professional’ who claims to have been involved in the COVID response at a senior level. Obviously terrified that their health condition leaves them at risk, but willing to believe that making others wear masks was the key to their safety.

At the time there was no good evidence for this quasi-religious belief and evidence has not emerged since.

People like this didn’t care about evidence. They grasped at anything that made them feel less in danger and there was no limit to the things they were prepared to do in order to bend the rest of us to their will.

This shows very clearly that expertise is no guarantee of rational thinking in a crisis.

^ this. Plenty were in favour of those who didn't comply with being vaccinated 'to protect others' deserve to be punished. if not directly calling for it then they were entirely content for that to happen. Still, it's human nature I suppose and one should hardly expect any different for a somewhat unpleasant aspect of it to be shown especially in thise times...

A lot of people were scared when, with hindsight, they had absolutely no need to be.

It's one of many elements regarding Covid and the response to it that I have concerns about. I suspect zero lessons have been learned by those in in power (deliberately or not) for if this ever happens again, the biggest difference this time will be that the scales will have fallen from a lot more people's eyes.

And of course the Public Inquiry will cover this aspect and review why the government, aided and abetted by a compliant media, decided to go down the route of fear and in some cases distort the facts to make the fear even worse………….

It also raises the genuine question of whether, not wanting to endorse censorship, nevertheless PH and other social media outlets are enabling mental illness, and those who prey on the afflicted.

It's a difficult balancing act, but having a forum like that with restricted access where they can re-enforce their world views surely can't be healthy for anyone?

You only have to cast an eye across the pond to the MAGA lunatics to see how this sort of thing can wreak havoc with society. It's more than a curiosity.

Where does the responsibility to fact check some of the more obvious nonsense start on a forum like PH, and where should it start?

Remember, innocent people have died because of bad decisions made in a fog of misinformation.
LOL! Is it 2020 again? 4 years on and they are calling for PH management to silence any covaids discussion which deviates from The Official Narrative, but dressed up like they are "concerned" for the discussion "enabling mental illness". rofl

Chances are the next pandemic will happen far enough in future such that whatever scales that might have fallen will long ago have regrown. The politicians in charge then would remember that fear was very effectively utilised to generate compliance 'for the greater good' and...... do exactly the same again.

Yep. A bit like how lessons learnt from, I dunno.. approx 80 years ago were all completely forgotten and/or ignored too. But if you dared to mention the parallels, oh boy..

Amazing correlation between those calling out "MAGA loons" and also calling for silencing of freedom of expression. Almost like they are part of the same political orthodoxy.

Governments tried that. It was cretinous at best, as the magic truth serums didn't actually stop anything.

Turns out the WHO knew in 2021 that vaccine passports were completely pointless in terms of 'controlling the virus'. Unfortunately it seems some countries carried on regardless for 'reasons'.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zr3TWPjS-64

Strange, then, that the WHO appear to be continuing to try to implement global digital ID that could control travel based on medical history.

Perhaps they'll make sure the next pandemic is something for which they can definitely produce sterilising vaccines and which will definitely kill you rather than just give you natural immunity they would have to acknowledge.

Gramps will no doubt be first in line for a spot of sleeve rolling compliance to test out whatever is dreamed up next, as opposed to us cretinous imbeciles who apply question and reasoning to such decisions. I mean honestly. Just trust the science, bigot. The medical implications are unimportant. Sign here.
