For some reason, all this time, whenever anyone mentions Justice Samuel Alito...

...I've been picturing Justice Lionel Ping from Arrested Development.

I have no explanation for this.

I'd love to see that but it would be playing directly into his victimhood complexes hands.

He wants to be locked up so he can claim it's all political and they're trying to stop him because they fear him.
A court should not be considering how imprisonment may be exploited. They are there to enforce the law only.
I hope you end up in front of a court that only enforces the law so you can find out how blinkered that view is.

Of course a court has to consider the wider ramifications and consequences of their actions. Courts are there to service the good of society, not just to apply laws (otherwise we could do it with computers these days, no need for judges and courthouses)..

That's not really the case, the US supreme court can overturn laws and implement new meanings of old ones. See rowe v wade.

If he's a real man, he'll go to the local gas station, pick up a card and some flowers and then get one of his Secret Service people to give it to her after he heads off to court.

Has he been photographed with everyone who has ever attended one of his lame parties? Or is it just the hired help and current wife?

The Constitution is the Supreme Law - any decision the SCOTUS makes is upholding the Supreme Law.

Karen McDougal, who in addition to being an ex-Playboy Playmate of the Month and Playmate of the Year, is apparently also an avid motorcycle and car collector, owning a rare TVR 420 SEAC.

Which of course can be challenged down the line, but only after you have gone through the multiple steps first. Roe v Wade is a good example (which I will still say they screwed up completely). Supreme court made a judgement and it was fixed. Legal arguments over the years and pushed up through the various courts got to the Supreme Court and they then used the wiggle room to strike it down.

However, it takes a long arduous process to get any previous SC decision back on the cards for review. The SC is rarely challenged and even rarer makes a new descision.

They didn't use wiggle room - they used a novel method of interpreting the constitution and ignored stare decisis.

That's where politics comes in.

In any case SCOTUS does invalidate and shift interpretation on laws but it is under the banner of Constitutional law.
