I'm going to go out on a limb and state that I believe multiple criminal trials for things like fraud and espionage, are not the same as a recording of him speaking to a reporter and saying gross things.
Change the record.
I'm sure that seemed clever when you wrote it.

I missed out looming bankruptcy and the total collapse of his businesses. The entire documented history of his electoral failures. The total financial collapse of the GOP leading into a general election

But you know, you guys have a bad feeling so, you do you.
I think Mr LF was just pointing out how he had been responded to by others in this thread.
That’s it really. Others post their same opinion daily, dressed up as a fact, but it doesn’t alter the fact, that right now nothing at all has impacted him personally. He will just continue to drag it out and keep kicking the can endlessly.
That's a bit like saying someone who is walking the plank is personally unaffected as they inch towards its end. There's a point where there is no more plank. Now the plank's certainly longer than anyone would like (and we can argue endlessly about its length!), but a plank it is.
If you die of old age before reaching the end of the plank, did the plank exist at all?

That's disingenuous, others post "opinions" based on evidence and knowledge of the systems and how they work.

Some post chicken littling Trump is untouchable comments. Understandable sentiment, but it's apples and oranges.

Read the link I posted above
Easiest way to look at it is death by a thousand cuts (quite appropriate given its Chinese origins). There's no one real damaging hit, hence some think trump is 'getting away with it', but the bigger picture is that is actually very bad, is getting slowly worse, and there's no favourable outcome.

In terms of bankruptcy - his stake in TS is apparently worth $$$billions.
- He is contractually prohibited from accessing it for six months, nor can it be used to raise money. Although I speculate if there is wiggle room to allow it to be used to pay fines. Depends on the exact detailed wording which isn't publicly available.

- It is one of the more shorted stocks currently, reportedly 10% of the free float is borrowed for shorting. Shorting is a bet it'll go down. The reason the short amount isn't even higher, is that a lot of the shares are locked up.

- In the nine months of 2023, the last reporting period, the business lost $49m on revenue (not profit - revenue) of $3.3m

- If he tries to sell more than a tiny fraction, the normal rules of supply and demand mean the share price will tank

- SPACs and recently de-SPACced companies don't have a normal, long term institutional shareholder base.

- The risk factors in the S-4 are grimly amusing, the only time I've professionally seen ones as extreme were in relation to Russian equity offerings.

Must correct you on that, various statements have been made that are facts. They are facts in that they are statements on how the US justice system works and what is happening in terms of what stage they are at. There are many resources to watch that will explain all this to you such as legal eagle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2LqdDnIxV8

The fact that you (and others) continually state opinions does not mean that the opposition are doing the same. I frankly find the continual 'ah but' approach annoying as all you're doing is saying 'he hasn't gone to jail yet'. Well, that's because of due process, which takes a huge amount of time and is rarely linear.

His team will try every trick in the book and they are doing exactly that but it doesn't change any of the facts about the process being undertaken.

The outcome at this stage is not that Trump has got away with anything at all, he and his team have delayed things for all of 10 days. The recent reduction in the bond is just the bond necessary to appeal. The appeal may lead to a reduction in the fine, but there will be a fine and it will be substantial. Trump has got away with nothing. You can 'ah but' all you like but that's just your opinion, as dull and repetitive as it may be.

I truly understand the concern, and the anger, and the historical context that shows Trump seems invincible.

Mostly though, links, articles, evidence is posted to try to assuage these fears. Only the individual can decide whether they can, or want to take the time to read this content.

That this is framed as "I'm not allowed an opinion" and "others post opinions as facts" is tribal and reductive.

Instead view it as an attempt to help - if you take the time to read some of the content, you'll perhaps feel a little less depressed about the whole thing.

I get this seems patronising as fk. It's not intended to be.

The "he's getting away with it" narrative is flawed, terribly so. He's lost multiple times, he can't hide forever from those rulings

This is a long read but it's a nonpartisan analysis of his upcoming criminal trial. You can of course not read it and dismiss it and continue to state that he's getting away with it.

Do you really think anyone here is going to make the effort to read that?????

Amusingly (to me at least) the "Access Hollywood" tape that's used as an example to show Trump getting away with things... Is a key part of the criminal trial starting soon.

Another thing to consider for those who think he continually gets away with it is whether he is as rich as he claims to be. We know that his properties are mortgaged up to the eyeballs (also over valued based on his lies), and that he doesn't have the cash to pay his legal obligations. He's clearly not successful and has spunked the inheritance/s

So where's all the money gone? He's certainly not gotten away with that.

I think this is what some people are talking about - it's been explained on here and with links to professionals in the industry how it may be worth billions on paper, but there are limitations on what he can do with it, and if he starts to sell it in quantity then the price will tank.

It would still be worth something, as long as there are enough mugs to buy it at a high enough price, but he's not sitting on top of billions of dollar bills, far from it.
I admit I'm a total IT numpty but I don't get why TS has value when X seems to be going the other way. Aren't people passed that sort of stuff now?

It really impressed me in terms of structure and content.

The clickable links at the start are like shortcuts to answer almost every single "but Trump will...." question you might have.

Questions we only have because the breathless media reporting hypes up his complaints to the court, and then totally ignores when the court smacks him down like an annoying toddler.

Read it all, a very balanced considered article from both prosecution and defence sides and whats likely to occur in court.
Of course the unknown here is trump. He cannot resit shooting his mouth off to reporters which damaged him in his fraud trial, they won't let him testify again after that ramble last time either.
If they can keep him quiet, they may have a chance, but realistically thats never going to happen and trumps probably going to be found guilty to some extent, probable get a year in jail, suspended pending appeal...

Seems to be a lot of this sort of thing being run by channels this week

Texas Trey, a former lifelong Republican, appeared on CNN's "Laura Coates Live" to discuss how he ditched the GOP to become an independent and in retrospect believes former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had former President Donald Trump's number.

"She was absolutely right about everything that she said,"

Anyway, the reason cg2 and others post such content is if you actually take the time you can see how much trouble he is in.

This is a long read but it's a nonpartisan analysis of his upcoming criminal trial. You can of course not read it and dismiss it and continue to state that he's getting away with it.

That explains the upcoming trial, not the others, although I’ll admit that reading it all isn’t high on my list of priorities. I will one evening when I have an hour spare.

I’ll start with the opening line “ On April 15, Donald Trump will appear in a Manhattan courtroom…” I don’t believe the trial will start then. Something, (I’ve no idea what) will delay it.

I have never said he isn’t in trouble and I know that if any of these trials or damages actually land, then he’s absolutely f***ed. I just don’t see them landing, they just get further and further away. It’s like chasing the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow in reverse.

I've posted several times in response, yet still the same point reiterated - no discussion... Honestly, you can see why some get frustrated.

Everything trump touches...

Rev. Al Sharpton on Morning Joe

"People ought to realize how offensive this is to those of us who really believe in the Bible, He's doing this during Holy Week! I mean, tomorrow is good Friday. Sunday is Easter. Of all of the times you want to hustle using the Bible, why would you do it during Holy Week, which is really a spit in the face of people who really believe in the Bible from a Christian point of view."

The Supreme Court will contrive to rule they do have complete immunity and the whole country will go mental.

The trials will take longer than a year.
Some of them are fruit loops and at least one woefully under qualified but they’re not thick, they know that has ramifications in the future as it will apply to both Republican and Democratic presidents and essentially sts on the idea of justice for all. The pledge of allegiance would need some modification.
I agree they're not thick but I don't think they give a st.

They know exactly what it'd mean and they don't care because they're untouchable.
