Why should the names of the jurors be made public?

I can understand that within the court and for the prosecution and defense teams their names need to be know but surely that is as far as it goes.
You might as well ask why they have the gun laws they do in the US. Their country, their rules. Like the gun laws, they don't always work out that well.

One dismissed juror who did not want to be identified due to safety concerns, said the first thing he saw when he walked into the courtroom was former trump, "scowling at the jury."

The juror also said that during lunch on Tuesday they began to get reports that some identity-revealing information had been published by media outlets, which made some in the pool feel "scared."

I get that some folk not having any great political leanings may run scared with this show of Mob-esque threat but surely there are enough people in NY from the pool that have opinions much like the majority that post on here that would say "Trump, never had an opinion on him" and sit it out till the verdict and have their own satisfaction ?

I know I would.

Unfortunately, I wonder how long it'll be until some poor soul is attacked by a magaloon, thinking they're a juror.

So they say 'no jury' trial continues with judge only. Cool with me - should save some time !

I wouldn't. Whatever the result is, people will be angry and violent.

I wouldnt either. Not because I am some sort of whimp or wont stand by my opinions, but because there are well documented cases where innocent individuals have been subjected to constant abuse, threats and more - and thats the ones that were incorrectly identified by the MAGA lunatics! For those who were involved it gets worse.

Just read the context around what happened to the Georgia election workers:

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/georgia-elec...

It makes terrible reading and just an illustration of how unhinged these MAGAloons are.... they are frightening and scary.... and armed. Its not going to be long before we end up with someone dead.

Indeed. I really hope they protect these Jurors or they'll start dropping out and it'll be a shambles, as intended.

It would just be a mistrial and it would go again.

AKA a further delay and kicked miles into the long grass….. if this does end in a mistrial, much to the undoubted disappointment of Judge Merchan, he gets a huge pass in effect AND, it becomes almost impossible to be tried again pre the election.

That’s a ‘win’ in Trump’s playbook! It would almost be the best realistic/possible outcome for Trump.

Hence the 6 alternates.

Can even go to a jury of less than 12, not sure if that's allowable in NY, though.

Yup. Thats a fair assessment. This is the Trump playbook - drag out all issues for as long as possible, and in the case of a criminal trial like this, its what he needs. And of course he wont be able to keep his miserable little mouth shut. I am sure that this is the play by the lawyers under the instruction of Trump.

But there have been a few instances where Trump is getting called out by his lawyers - most recently about his mobile phone usage. Maybe his lawyers have a backbone in there somewhere? Or maybe they are just angling to get some work after this is all done. I am pretty sure that they are going to be toxic for a while post trial. Alina Habba isnt fighting off clients at the moment - though having two massive judgements made against her client probably doesnt help...

hehe

"Former Fashion Executive".... haha, love it. Sometimes reporters have a bit of fun.

trumps lawyers wanted to know i n advance who the prosecution was going to call forst as a witness
Todd Blanche asked who the DA's Office plans to call as their first three witnesses. Joshua Steinglass from office refused on the basis that trump has been tweeting about them.

Judge Merchan said he doesn't blame the DA's office. Blanche said trump won't tweet about the witnesses to which Merchan said Blanche can't promise that and refused to order the DA's office to name its first three witnesses.

12 Jurors seated now, 7 men and 5 women and one alternate. Just the five alternates to go.

Lets not forget the $1m judgement against her with trump as well for the attempted Clinton prosecution.

When Yasmin Vossoughian interviewed one of the excused jurors, she said he looked less orange in person, but really take away all of the bluster, and he's just this old dude sitting there looking orange and tired.

He's not a deity. He's not a cult leader. He's just a man who has violated the laws and just like all of us who violate a law, there's going to be consequences."

Meanwhile, wht to do with trumps attacking of the jurors and intimidation under NY law

There's election fraud in Arizona all right - GOP based.

Is this the third to withdraw after being caught forging signatures?

The latest far-right Arizona state Rep. Austin Smith and senior director at Turning Point Action is withdrawing after being caught, and resigning from Turning Point. Smith 'personally circulated multiple petition sheets bearing what appear to be forged voter signatures,'

Judge Cannon rejected efforts by Trump's aide Walt Nauta and Magalardo property manager Carlos De Oliveira to get the cases against them dismissed. De Oliveira was claiming he didn't know what was in the boxes when he moved them, or tried to destroy the security footage as rump ordered...

Edit: And trump valet Walt Nauta's GRAND JURY transcript set to become public next week. Judge Cannon orders Nauta to file the transcript by April 24, with redactions to protect potential govt witnesses and personal information
