I don't think Orwell had a shouty 3rd rate politics graduate in mind as Big Brother when he wrote 1984, but the policing of thought crime has arrived. We have always been at war with Eastasia[genuflects in direction of Holyrood].

Looks like 'Wings' will be throwing in the towel over this.
It's not just Wings that should be worried. Any opinion hosting website would in theory be liable for prosecution under Scottish law as the 'publisher' of material considered a hate crime under this Orwellian legislation. Anyone stating biological facts will now be criminalised via malicious reporting from trans activist lunatics, fully endorsed by the Scottish Government. Prison construction will fuel an economic resurgence under the kind and benevolent leadership of Dumza Yousless and the Scotanese Nationalists.

Keep your ears out for the knock at the door, and a visit from SNPoileas Alba, the State Enforcers.

All of this has the hallmarks of East Germany and the Stasi - with everyone clyping on anyone that posts stuff on social media that doesn't toe the party line. If this is the best that devolution has to offer then maybe it needs to be dismantled.

It isn't looking good when Police Scotland (before the hatecrime bill is passed) will record a non crime hate incideht against an MSP without even telling them.

The letter of complaint Murso Fraser sent Police Scotland is in the link. He points out, amongst other things, that the police in England were held to be acting unlawfully in similar circumstances.

I wonder of people will be extradited from other parts of the UK to stand trail in Scotland for hate speech?

Although politicians will have to watch themselves under this legislation/

This won't last long...what's the betting it'll be ditched faster than the DRS scheme, only this time they can't blame the looney Greens its was The Lord All Mighty Dumza "wkstain" Useless doing he's the rocket that dreamed this nonsense up.

I think Police Scotland will be overwhelmed by complaints about the SNP and Greens on the very first day.

If that happens hopefully it's enough to scrap the experiment of devolved parliaments. We don't have enough quality politicians to form a decent house in parliament never mind the diddy versions in Scotland and Wales and we certainly can't afford them.

Crikey. Even my seat looks like it's going resoundingly Labour. This is a constituency that has unthinkingly voted for Pedro Grunt election after election, a cretinous halfwit of a man with the political nous of a fish slice. At the last round of council elections there was a move away from the SNP to a situation of no overall control, with the SNP very narrowly remaining the largest party but not enough to form an administration - the other parties engaged in some grown-up thinking to form a Labour/Tory council to lock out the SNP, and the screaming & frothing from the nationalists was delightful laugh

By these figures it looks like it is still in the balance whether the SNats will fall behind the LibDems, but looking increasingly likely.

Another blinder by Effie today regarding our imminent loss of freedom of speech, well worth 2 minutes of your time.

biglaugh I see you live in the same constituency as i do. My father lives almost directly across the road from him. The entrance to the road was the best piece of tarmac in Fife , the damage to the surface was nowhere near as bad as some nearby roads yet it apparently warranted replacing before them all scratchchin

It won't, he's just a convenient fall guy for them at the moment. The managers under him, many of whom who've been at the yard for years, are just as bad - middle aged mediocrity with no ability to do the job but happy to take the wages.

With a few exceptions, the only halfway competent people at the yard are the outside contractors coming in to work on specialized OEM equipment; there is very little organic talent at Port Glasgow.
