Snap; a good day started with the commute from halls or the flat taking less than 15 minutes and finding a space right next to the steps up to the Jimmy Watt, an average day was parking by the bowling green and A Very Bad Day was having to park down on the far side of Argyll Street, I knew I was late for lectures then. hehe

On the news MPs voting to increase MUP. With a clip from a campaigner saying it had cut alcohol deaths. Funny how the stats say otherwise. Deaths trending up since MUO came in back in 2018.

Apparently there would have been even more deaths if it hadn't been for the mup.How do you even say that with a straight face?

Former first minister Nicola Sturgeon saw her SNP administration as world leaders on climate change when the targets were introduced in 2019, often asserting that Scotland had the "most stretching targets in the world."
Hers was the first government in the world to declare a climate emergency and Glasgow hosted the COP26 climate summit in 2021, yet environmentalists believe the emergency response never came.
So scrapping the targets will be seen as an embarrassing retreat for the SNP and the Scottish Greens, their partners in the Scottish government.
Speeches, targets, grandstanding, virtue signalling, points scoring, pot shots at the UK Government, deliver fk all, embarrassing about face.

Basically the story of Sturgeon’s time in office.

Isn’t Perth’s tagline “Gateway to the Highlands”?

So basically, “Come to Perth - You Can Get To Other Places From Here”

Going back to England and driving randomly around outside towns and cities you can stumble across dozens of lovely little green villages and rural hamlets, great places to live or stop for a bite - I know Scotland is more desolate by geography but there’s very little of that here, everywhere seems run down and knackered and populated by unhealthy people.

I don’t know what the solution is but its location and low population density doesn’t make for a great economic forecast. Edinburgh feels like it still has a lot going on and is a draw for people, but Glasgow has struggled the last decade or so.

I know it can be better than it currently is though, hopefully the SNP will be out next election and SOMETHING can change. :-/

Targets are easy. I could say I had a target to live to 100. Doesn't mean it will happen. Being a world leader is be achieving something now not boasting you will do it in 15 years time from now.

Surprisingly true. When I cycled from Lands End to John O-Groats a highlight was all the villages and small towns through Cornwall - Devon - Somerset - Hereford
- Ludlow etc.

Going through Scotland my route was Larkhall, Hamilton, Cambuslang, Glasgow.

Though TBF I also went through Liverpool which felt like Glasgow with a different accent.

I see quite a few giving Perth a hard time, Dunfermline by comparison has nothing, nor does Kircaldy the centre and high street is like a ghost town, Glenrothes centre is good it always seems to be busy and has a good mix of shops.

Perth has free parking for 3hrs, its a piece of pish to get to and out off, the shops are way better than anywhere in Fife...I like going there its got everything I need...plus you get a good blast through Glenfarg on the way home (this is Pistonheads after all)

Edinburgh is horrific...I cannot remember the last time I stood on Princess Street, its a nightmare if you want to drive.

Even Edinburgh locals dont drive into the centre. We have buses for that.
We drive to Fort Kinnaird or the Gyle.

Indeed, the quaint and affluent English village with a nice pub seems to be widespread. Villages in Scotland in comparison are often poor and deprived, quite a difference.

Perth (and Perthshire) on the other hand I like, a nice park (North Inch) to walk around, and a gateway to Loch Tay, Pitlochry, Aberfeldy, Blairgowrie, the Cairngorms etc.

Close to the steps was my aim too - everything except Maths was in JW for me in 3rd and 4th year!

(And the Union was closer than Maths so it often got missed due to the need for a roll and sausage lick)

To be fair, I’m still using the bath thermometer from our first baby box from 2018. There was some decent stuff in there but a lot of it was unnecessary and not great quality. One suspects it also cost the taxpayer more than the equivalent product from the supermarkets. Maybe handing vouchers for baby equipment from Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury’s etc to lower income families or families that the midwives have concerns about would be a better use of funds.
Anyway, we’ve discussed baby boxes ad nauseum on here, there’s plenty more SNP ineptitude to talk about.

But it's always a good reminder of the SNP's towering acheivements.

The next poster who wrongly spells Princes Street will have to spend a day with Harvie and Slater then take Blackford out for dinner.
