Salmond is just grandstanding. Everyone is getting on a General Election footing, including Humza which is why he shed the Greens - I explained why on Thursday, but his cack-handedness backfired.

Salmond now sees this as an opportunity to scoop up the indynut SNP voters who still think a referendum is the road to 'freedumb'.

Everyone (Salmon included) knows it is a busted flush, but there are still a lot of blue-face-painters harking back to memories of 2014. The SNP have ran out of road as far as that is concerned, but him and Alba can pretend there's still some mileage in it.

However way you turn it, the three-way-split in the indynut vote that everyone in here predicted months ago is now becoming a reality.

It is especially bizarre that in the middle of this mess, two parties seem to both agree that independence will resolve their problems, but will not agree with each other rolleyeslaugh

I don't see this as the spouting of " Independence Pish " as you so elegantly put it . Salmond like everyone else knows that Independence is now a non starter with the Scottish Electorate , unfortunately just like the SNP , Alba are saddled with it as their raison d etre so he clearly cant come out and say it . All Salmond is doing in this broadcast is cynically appealing to the ultra Nationalists within the SNP to propel his one trick donkey into a position of influence by being a friendly foe who only wants to get " back to basics ". Alba is a vehicle for Alec Salmond , nothing more .
I laughed when he had the cheek to talk of bringing jobs to Scotland . Wasn't this Bloke that led a formal Trade Delegation to Iran back in 2015 and came back with nothing ?

The Election of Starmer has all the hallmarks of pathos being followed by tragedy for Scotland . I genuinely hope I have this wrong but I honestly feel this Bloke is a turnip . Ultimately you can promise and say anything when you aren't in power and this Bloke already fiscally poor is going nowhere . This is the flaw of Democracy the world over , that reflex action come Election Time when the People are seduced by the Snake Oil Salesmen . I have lived and earned money in the South East since I was 16 and I have never seen thing so bleak . The taxation burden both direct and indirect is beginning to make working for yourself no longer pay and incredibly that's under a Conservative Government .

It's in the headline - " Independence Plan " listen I know he's trying to appeal to the face painter ilk but that's what he said.

It's actually hilarious.

Humza is so politically inept it beggars belief. His letters to the other parties was his metaphorically showing them his arse so they could give it a massive kicking, and they are absolutely taking the opportunity to do so.

I agree that in the wider context of the UK a Labour Government is simply replacing one form of st with another, but in the Scottish context having a unified national government presents the opportunity to undo all of the 'different for the sake of being different' complexity, waste and inefficiency the SNP have implemented while they attempted to present a false impression to the world that Scotland was in fact independent.

Unified tax laws and a dismantling of the exceptionally inefficient parallel benefits system will at a stroke improve the situation fiscally both for the people and the Government of Scotland.

Swinney might even go for it. He seems to have an insatiable appetite for going under the bus.

To be fair, this prediction didn’t really need a massive amount of foresight, even on Thursday last week.
