Poor attempt from you, but I suppose well done for trying.

There’s no excuse letting your 2 year old end up in a river. That’s a hill I’ll die on.
Not an attempt, just perceived risk is different and “things” can happen.

Jesus wept, what a Horrible thread. Internet point scoring over a dead two year old. Sad.

Completely agree, the 'better than you' attitude from some I find really difficult to understand, have some compassion FFS.

Some of you should be ashamed.

Yes quite.

I have a horrible feeling the conclusion to this story isn't going to be a nice one frown

Ah bless - I've just seen the ethnicity of the poor kid and no doubt that would have made it even harder for the dad to have recovered him. The police have cctv footage and have already stated they're not treating it as suspicious. I hope, as a family, they can recover.

Well they won’t be able to will they, let’s be honest. You don’t recover from this.

No. I've been out for dinner. The poor little lads skin colour against the backdrop of the dark undercurrent wouldn't have helped. If anyone's read the BBC article it's mentions numerous family members - hence "the family".

Indeed - which would have made things worse. Believe me - I feel this is a total tragedy, but it seems like everyone did as best they could at the time.

Absolutely. A horrendous situation, and st does happen. A few weeks ago my wife phoned me in floods of tears. Our 4 year old boy had very nearly got flattened by a lorry in the village walking home from school. He’s usually stuck to my wife like glue, but a split second and he’d stepped into the road. My wife is usually quite chilled about cuts and bruises and falls, which is why i know just how close he came to being a statistic. It took her a few days to get over it. I have a pit in my stomach thinking about the family of this little boy.
I've always thought it's a miracle that any toddler grows up to adulthood (and with both eyes still in their sockets).

There are very few parents that haven't had a near miss or two, IME.
Okgo hasn’t, he knows how to be the perfect parent with no risk. He’s never taken his kid near a bridge for example. I personally think he’s a maniac for going near a road with a 2 year old, far too dangerous compared to a kid living in the countryside with no cars around. It’s obvious that cars zipping past at 30mph a few 10’s of cm away from a 2yo is asking for it, how long would it take for them to run onto the road when you did you shoelace or similar?

Near where I live a parent was trying to cross a road, a skip lorry was going past at probably 15mph. The small child she was holding the hand of ran forward and she was too late pulling her back as the lorry tyres went over her.

Things happen, bad things happen to good people, there are things you can think but perhaps don't need to say.

As Billy butcher said, don't be a .

I sincerely hope you never suffer anything close to what these parents are going through. I know you'll satisfy yourself that you won't, because you'd never put your child in harms way but you haven't shown yourself in a great light in this thread IMO.

Yet the post above yours alludes to people thinking things but not saying them. Interesting how people are.
