Well, I didn't expect that:

OK, the Rochdale By-Election was a bit odd after Labour withdrew support for their candidate, and Galloway will probably lose the seat at the General Election, but even so....

I quite like old George. I'd like him a lot more if he hadn't done Big fkin' Brother. Marvelous speaker, his performance at the senate was brilliant.

I know Rochdale has a small Jewish community (about 400). Will they feel confident in getting represented fairly by him? He was MP for Bradford and called for a Jewish free areas if I recall correctly.

He is a good orator but he is an opportunist and a seeks to divide communities wherever he stands. It’s also well documented that he is not exactly the most diligent MP; I’m not sure the day to day lives of the people of Rochdale are going to be improved by him in any as a result of his divisive rhetoric, but then they did vote for him.

It’s not a good day for Rochdale, or the UK in my opinion.

I used to, and his performance in front of the senate was incredible.

However what he's become is obscene. Stirring up racial division for votes. As far as I'm concerned he's more harmful than Tommy Robinson because Tommy Robinson would never get close to being elected.

Ironic that Labour withdrew a mildly iffy candidate which left a gap for someone off the scale. frown A lesson for us in future, I think.

Trying not to be corrected, or deliberately naive. Not sure.

Anyone within his constituency? Which campaign letter did you get…

Unfortunately this result will of course drive the racists in their narrative re the political landscape.

It just shows how meaningless the left/right labels are. Palestine is not remotely left wing, the tunnels are privately owned and run run on a commercial basis. Do Palestine run any kind of Welfare state, I bet thats all run by outsiders. Putin is arguably an extreme right winger allowing free enterprise freedom to cream off money as they will. They even outsource their foreign policy FFS. (I accept Russia has a massive state sector.)

Should hopefully only be for a few months until a GE is called.

Enough time for the local electorate to see what a stain he is and vote for a less divisive character next time.

Which racists? One set of racists never poll over 5pc, the other set of racists win seats in Parliament.
