He obviously had a grudge against some section of society. What motivated this is anybody's guess.
According to the murderer's father, he had no social skills, could not get a girl friend and was increasingly isolated and alone. He had stopped taking his medicines. He was a loner, and unemployed /living rough.

I'd say he was severely autistic and unable to express himself.

It's a sorry tale for all concerned, but it backs up my belief that people think that amongst the neuro divergent, ADHD is the nice one, and autism is the nasty one. Who doesn't love someone who's all over the place, as opposed to someone who doesn't make eye contact with you. rolleyes
Reminds me a bit of this case -

Seeing a video on the news of the latest incident in which a priest is attacked mid-service, it looks like a lot of people from the congregation swiftly piled on in his defence. Fair play to those who had the nerve to jump on a knifeman. Sounds like there are a few injured, unsurprisingly.

Was it a knife? I'm seeing reports that it was a pen and another that it was a pocket knife that didn't deploy properly. Non life threatening injuries so I'm guessing that a blade wasn't used given the number of "stabs" he managed to get in. Shocking video.

It's not clear or reported at this stage, so when reading the 'stabbing' headline and seeing the video I assumed it was a knife of some description. Report is saying that others have been admitted with laceration but not life-threatening wounds. It just impressed me that people jumped to the man's aid in spite of risk to themselves.

It seems the NSW Police are having quite a night that you might struggle to call quiet though

It appears the church involved is from the Assyrian church and it hails from Syria/iraq area

The bishop apparently has some strong views re the Middle East and has been described as anti Zionist and pro Palestinian

So clearly what has gone on is as likely to be as clear as mud and as unfathomable as much that emanates from the ME

There are reports that the attacker is a 15 year old that’s known to the Police and separately that members of the congregation have cut the fingers off his hands when detaining him ( there appears to be footage confirming this )

All very odd

It's almost like all the initial outrage was just based on the mans perceived skin colour wasn't it.

Ugly all round.
After the 2nd stabbing incident (the church one), a lynch mob showed up, and attacked police and paramedics in an attempt to get at the perpetrator.
Paramedics had to take shelter in the church, at least two police officers injured.

The outrage was at those assuming it was terrorism when it wasn’t.

Now that its just plain old terrorism, and nobody jumped to conclusions; no interest.

I'm sure there will be another incident along soon enough, where you can once again tell us all how bigoted and racist we are.

Well if you avoid jumping to inaccurate, bigoted conclusions, without having any facts first, that won't be necessary now, will it?

That's absolutely outrageous. I don't normally get angry with news items but that really has hit my wrong buttons.

8bn people on the planet tbf so there is bound to be more of it even if just 0.1% of the population has "mental health issues".

I haven’t heard all sides of this properly yet. What on earth was in it for the police to attempt to further radicalise this person?
The senator’s story doesn’t, on the face of it, make any sense.
