The Russian army is falling to bits and I would be amazed if they can afford to invest.

Russia is on its knees economically; sabre rattling this one!
And the UK Army is so great :P
Shhhh, we've got a spy!

I think that they are better placed to spend the money if they wanted to.

Because maybe you should look at how your own country is before you say bad thing about others. How the UK treats soldiers and doe not spend enough so they are ready for the wars that they send them to fight is wrong.

Nadyenka, this thread is about Russian re-armament plans......I fail to see the relevance of your complaints.

Your logic is skewed......too much vodka? biggrin

Obviously touched a nerve though.......

If a new Cold War keeps our meddling politicians busy and diverts them away from :

  • Climate change
  • Tax
  • Surveillance of the general population
  • Etc
I'm all for it hehe

Nicely put.
I can't see us being involved in the next cold war. We are just not important enough anymore.
Geographically, we're very important

I do not see any problem if more is spend of Defence. If it make conditions more safe for our soliders it is a good thing and maybe the UK should do the same for their soldiers also.

So you think it unacceptable for me to comment on Russia's military plans, for I am not a Russian. Yet, you still deem it appropriate to denigrate the UK's armed forces. Hmmm......

I made no reference to whether I thought it a good thing, Soviet re-armament; I just stated that I don't think the motherland can afford it.

As an aside, I am actually rather fond of Russia, its wonderful history and its peoples. In fact, I am supping your greatest export as we speak! thumbup

Just in case you got the wrong idea, Comrade biggrin

OK so we can be used as a car park for those who could be part of a war.

I do not think it is not acceptable and I am sorry if I sound that way.All I mean to say is that I do not think the UK should say our defence plans are bad. Also maybe they should do the same.I also do not think that the soldiers of the UK are bad.I think the way that the UK government treat them is bad.

It's funny you should say that.......Gordon announced he was looking to reduce our nuclear arsenal today.....

French vodka? Hmm, sounds about as good as Russian wine does!

Are you actually in Russia, by the way? Would be interesting to know if this thread's topic is big news over there.

Russians can play around all they want. At the end of the day they are a nation in decline. A falling population, devastated economy, and a corrupt political system are all pathways to irrelevance.

They want to waste what little money they have on bombers then be my guest.

Whereas the UK just wastes its money on ill-thought through bank bailouts. I would bet Russia gets a bigger economic boost through its spending, and creates more jobs, than Brown will.
