And by cutting public spending presumably you mean state school budgets and NHS resources and whatever else that doesn't affect the rich ?
Ah, the stalwart quote of the Labourite. To infer that tax cuts can only be made against health and education budgets.

Cos no matter where else you look in public spending, there's just no waste anywhere else, is there? Apparently the schools and the hospitals are gonna get it every time rolleyes
clap Yes indeed. Lets nail this lie for a start!

IIRC there are approx 650,000 extra civil servants now than there were in 1997. Of these, we've got a few thousand more nurses, doctors, teachers and policemen. (we also got some useless PCSOs, but lets be charitable and say they make some sort of contribution) At the same time our armed forces have shrunk a little, so lets say that we have got 150,000 useful extra key hires in the public sector.
What, pray tell, are the other half a million feckers doing everyday? Nothing to cut other than schools, hospitals and frontline services? PAH! pull the other one

Not forgetting all the 5-a-day Coordinators and Diversity Managers and of course the Chew Your Food and Wear Your Vest Like A Good Boy or Girl Outreach Coordinators.

Even so let's not forget to look at the estimated £6bn annual waste in the NHS and after that (!) where the rest goes.

New Labour's NHS Legacy

The following list is taken from a GP who has written of the people that she has been emailed by in her local PCT. The list speaks for itself, it tells the tale of the incredibly inefficient and wasteful bureaucratic mess that this government has created in the NHS. There are now more PCT managers than primary care doctors in many areas, there are people with titles that make no sense and the output of their jobs often amounts to even less. Here we have Kafka's PCT list:

The article linked by the OP is by Johann Hari, so I don't need to read it. He is a tedious little left-wing propagandist of the worst sort.

i blame labour for everything because their bloody in charge...and the bbc should be crucified for standing by their side...

its ironic their called labour when all they do is provide non jobs and destroy economies...there is no dream under labour, nothing to aspire to...

they made it easier for wasters and harder businesses and the working man, pure and simple....

i mean why the fk on the verge of a downturn they knew was coming introduce useless home information packs against the advice of the law society...

taxation accounting...words cannot describe the crap that has gone on here...

and i'm fed up with saying the same bloody thing the tories are the best of a crap bunch....their all we have its not a perfect world....yes they used their expenses unwisely but at least they favour a more market orientated economy and it is the private sector which is going to get us out of this fking mess not increases in public sector spending...

you cannot have a wasteful public sector without a thriving private sector and labour seem intent on making it impossible for businesses to function...i'm jealous of all the rich people i know but the country doesnt work without rich people investing and spending...money makes the world go round....people with money will leave under another term of labour...

also you cannot grow out of a fking recession lets get that clear...you make cuts and pay down your debt then you start thriving again...
