Banning the Burqini...
Discussion
There was an interesting comment article in the Guardian a few months ago discussing which country was more left and liberal with regard to burkas: England, for letting them wear what they want, or France for forcing them to remove it, or banning them from public facilities unless they remove it. It's an interesting point because the French think themselves as more liberal, giving the Islamic women freedom from this male oppression, but then similarly they're forcing them not to wear it by legislation.
Typically I can't find the article online..!

Burqinis would never be allowed here in Germany, as even us normal folk are not allowed any baggy swimwear whatsoever. Shorts type trunks have been banned for years. It's speedos or nowt (nude)
I'm curious. On what grounds are they banned? I mean, what is the justification / rationale? Colonial said:

It's speedos or nowt (nude) here (not flattering to my paunch!) and you'll be checked as to whether you've showered or not before entering the baths area proper.

Shorts can hide underwear, some teens arrive riding their bicycles and shorts and try to jump straight in.. or are playing footie in the grassy areas and carrying the grass/dirt into the pools..especially with the huge amount of open air swimmimg pools here
Fair enough. Kind of makes sense. JMGS4 said:

Can certainly attest to that. Thought we'd pop in to a German bathhouse/swimming complex one spare day before flying home, I had a respectable pair of running shorts on and my girlfriend a swimsuit. We were duly ordered to remove them or leave the premises by some nude German woman.Colonial said:

Basically, a western tourist is supposed to respect the underlying ethos of a medieval semi-society, sorry, strong and noble religious traditon, but the reverse is not true.
Thoughts?

The Dutch are leading the way.
InAmsterdam recently there was a pron DVD section of "Burqah Pron" where asian looking ladies engaged in just about every act you can think of and some you probably couldn't while dressed in them.
It'd go down great if the nutters knew, I am sure!!
I'd send some troops on a suicide mission for that. InAmsterdam recently there was a pron DVD section of "Burqah Pron" where asian looking ladies engaged in just about every act you can think of and some you probably couldn't while dressed in them.
