Now Royal Mail loses the Amazon account
Discussion
Anyone who sends or receives parcels by Royal Mail will have been affected by the strikes recently. Now the publicly owned carrier has lost it's second biggest account, Amazon. The Royal Mail has become something of a joke and yet it's executives, paid from the public purse, are amongst the highest remunerated managers in the country. Chief Exec Adam Crozier earns more than £1.2 million per year but he presides over a complete shambles. When will the government act and say that enough is enough?

That's pretty much been the policy for years.
Apart from the Post Office Christmas Delivery Policy - of simply dumping mail in the nearest skip/waste bin/water-course/den-of-thieves - naturally. That's pretty much been the policy for years.

Was listening to some fktard union moron on R4 this morning who said they were "confident" that their members would vote for strike action and that this would be "good". The interviewer picked him up on this, and also called him pathetic later in the discussion on the basis that both sides seem to admit that they don't know what they are arguing about.
How much longer can unions be allowed to exert this much grief on the populous before someone in power gets their bks out of their pocket and disbands the lot of them?

fk all...which is presumably why amazon chose to deliver to me via them. I did wonder why I had received it via them instead of RM.
So I guess lots more people will be receiving missed delivery cards from Citylink.
Amazon have used City for a long time. Its not a new thing. So I guess lots more people will be receiving missed delivery cards from Citylink.

I also owen a mail order biz, and we spend 2-3k a week with Royal Mail. They are reliable generally.. but do everything in their power when they lose somethig to wriggle out of paying.
The extra traffic we move to Couriers in the event of a Strike will not ever be returning to RM.
Whilst I don't like the PO management I think they have been trying to sort out one hell of a mess in a much more competitive environment. Posties have had it their own way for a while, they are being pulled into shape and they don't like it. They will bugger the business up on their own if they continue to get stroppy and strike.Crosier, don't rate him he just seems to be an overpaid smoothie to me.The extra traffic we move to Couriers in the event of a Strike will not ever be returning to RM.
I'm a big user of Amazon and to be fair to the Royal Mail have never really had a problem with their delivery service.
Most of the time they will deliver it and if not usually it is too big for the letterbox. The sorting offices usually tend to be reasonably local if you do need to collect it.
Places like Citylink are not setup to handle the same sort of volumes IME.

I agree. I detest unions..
But I don't care whose fault it is.. I want packages we send to arrive promptly and not be lost.
So that is about £80k RM will lose right away from us as we switch what we can.
You are the customer and will vote with your pocket. I just think that this is a prime example of striking workers just screwing the business into the ground and customers like you will move away. But I don't care whose fault it is.. I want packages we send to arrive promptly and not be lost.

That's happened to me more than a few times, how actually does it help them? That's pretty much been the policy for years.

Standard policy (informal) all over the place.
