Televised Leaders Debates..
Discussion
Does anyone on here, regardless who who's arse they'd prefer to kiss, honestly believe that the current prime minister, again, regardless of who that is at the time, would ever be on anything other than the back foot in these debates? A whole host of politicians ganging up on you, telling you how you should have done things? And at a time where everyone looks at you as an outsider because you're not walking on the sides of your Reebok classics, the timing couldn't be worse for the current PM (or better if if you're the wide mouthed frog!).
It wouldn't matter who out of the current crop of s were PM right now. They'd always have the rest of the power crazed turds trying to turn the screw to better themselves.

Depends on how it is done.Did you see the Clegg vs Farage debate? It was one on one with both having plenty of time to answer. Both experts in the subject matter to hand and with opposing views made their case point by point with lots of time to answer.
Problem is that Miliband and Cameron won't do the same, Milliband in particular will give the same scripted on-message answer to 5 different questions, that will answer none of them. Probably all NHS related.
And the 7 way will be a farce, but at least it will give valuable prime time tv exposure- much needed seeing as the cash rich Tories in particular will be outspending the rest over the campaign.

I thought the Farage/Clegg one was crap too. Again, a good speaker on one side (although a pillock in my eyes), and a personality-less bloke who's trying to represent his minor party against the bigger party. Do you get what I mean by the man in power will never have an easy time with the power hungry vultures in front of him?
It's a lose lose for Cameron. Probably why he's reluctant to do it.
So 'Call Me Frit' Cameron has announced an ultimatum - 90 mins debate featuring 7 people...or nothing. And has to be at least a month before voting day. Refusing to go head to head with Miliband too.
Hope the TV companies do more debates without him.

7 party representatives is daft - for them all to get a shout they will either have to only ask a few questions, give them hardly any time to answer or run a program that lasts for hours.
Cons, Lab, LibDems, Greens & UKIP maximum.
They all have seats currently, and are the only likely parties to have seats next time round.
Cons & Lab with just do the usual, LibDems will be seen as the irrelevance as everyone has now had the chance to see, the Greens will implode live on TV (rather than radio) and UKIP will have a huge surge due to speaking in straight English and will get the same result that LibDems got last time round.

What's the point? Yes it was funny seeing Farage pull Clegg to pieces during the last debates but it basically comes down to who is the best speaker on the night.
I'm sick of the lot of them, this year, (if I vote at all), I'll have to vote for the party that is marginally less crap than the others as I think they're all st but some are dangerous and st.

Unfortunately all you need to do is look around you. The general public lap that sort of crap up. They are playing to the electorate. The 7 party leaders in the Big Brother house for a week with 7 of the electorate.
Either the last man standing after an eviction a day forms the government, or a final vote on the 7th day with a proportional representation parliament based on the % of votes.
All negotiations on a coalition to be done live on TV in real time.
You just need to watch some of the American Democrat or Republican party presidential candidate debates to see how pointless holding a debate with so many people is. But of course Cameron knows that. With so many candidates there will be very little debate and simply lots of soundbites, a bit like party political broadcasts.
The Cameron vs Miliband one-on-one debate is a must considering only one of these can be PM. Cameron should wipe the floor with Miliband which makes this decision, made primarily by Lynton Crosby and Gideon it appears, completely bizarre and counterproductive.
