I hope Ed has learned his lesson and stops doing that creepy stare into the camera thing tonight.

The debate will be 'won' by the hardcore lefties because the SNP, Greens and Plaid constantly shout about fairer societies, no more cuts, the vulnerable in society etc etc and the masses fall for it.

Funny thing is...

the poor have been voting Labour for 90 years now, yet they're still poor.

Out of all of the people on stage, I've realised I'd rather have a strong Labour majority than a Labour/SNP/Plaid/Green coalition and how dreadful that would be.

But they're not are they.
As BlackLabel correctly pointed out, tonight's debate is basically a left Wing propoganda coup, Left wing stuff is all very attractive, nothing nasty about it, more houses, better NHS, no zero hour contracts, etc etc, and there is no one to counter this with the reality of life, ie we need a healthy economy to be able to pay for all these 'nice' things. DC has made a big mistake by choosing not to be there.

and they will remain so.
This debate has left me quite dismayed. Whoever told Cameron to stay out of it then he deserves a raise.
What a complete shambles and those naughty Tories pronounced TORRRREEEEEEES.
My goodness if the people on this platform form a Government we are all doomed I tellyou.

Less than 90 years ago the government had to deploy the Army up from Wiltshire to camp outside Liverpool, in order to break up dockers striking for fairer pay.

Life was a damn site harder 90 years ago - working class people had noticably shorter life spans due to the strenous work demanded of them. If you didn't work, you didn't eat - or else it was the work house.

Labour did do a lot to break the Tory / Whig deadlock on politics that had ruled for hundreds of years, though WW1 & WW2 did a lot to break up the ruling class grip on the country.

There will always be people poorer than others - its like the rubbish child poverty surveys that base poverty a bit below the average income...

The problem is (as I see it) people born in the UK expect an entitlement to a world leading lifestyle (including health and elderly care), yet there are an increasing number of passengers who are taking but not contributing. (I'm talking indigenous here - this is not about immigration). Couple this to an aging population, and the excrement is going to hit the cooling device in less than a generation, unless something can shift our country back into the innovative, and prosperous times it experienced during the Victorian era.

I don't know the answer - if I did, I'd sell it. Maybe we can just carry on on intertia, and hope no-one notices that large parts of the 1st world are running on empty (compared to emerging countries). These countries of course don't have the high public expectations and quality of life to afford (yet), and are still in the exploitative stage (just like the UK was 150-100 years ago)

Back on topic - the stuff being spouted by the minor left parties suggest ending austerity is as simple as just uttering it out loud. It isn't.

It sounds nice, but hopefully a lot of voters will see through it on 7th May.

That's the idea of course - they just haven't figured it out yet. wobble

I think Cameron and what's his name did well to steer clear of that circus last night, I cannot see how any of those people have got the positions they have. The Uk deserves much better

But in not turning up they contrived to make Ed look like prime minister material, since the others were so poor. That may have an impact on the floating voters. It was a mistake not to take part IMO, because those who vote but don't follow the debates/campaign closely, may have made their minds up on last night's showing, when 2 of the principal contenders were out of sight, therefore out of mind.

What an embarrassment the ITV debate is - cringeworthy stuff at times. Paul Nuttall can't even get the welsh ladies names right even after being corrected lol.

Conservatives official Twitter account has a lot to say about the debate - although most responses appear to be suggesting they shut up as they didn't want to be part of it..

I don't even see how that can be classed as a debate when 4 of the 5 agreed on virtually everything

The hate on there is absolutely unreal. Oddly enough, the same people aren't flooding the Labour page criticising them for not showing up.

I don't see the Labour Twitter account using the #itvdebate hashtag though. That's probably why they didn't get attacked in the same way.
