Bizarre. People complaining about the fact that a US company has bought up a British company, quite legally, and quite properly.

If you didn't want it to be owned by the yanks, perhaps you should all have bought shares in it. Or complained when it became a publicly listed company.

Chocolate in this country is tasteless nasty sweet ste anyway. Only Lindt make good chocolate for sale here.

You don't hear Wallace saying "Cracking Kraft Easi-Slices Grommit", do you?

That must mean something.
Unless product placement rules change and Kraft offer enough readies.

Anyone willing to bet me a tenner that cadbury's won't be manufactured in the UK in 2 years time?
I had already commented on the other thread that Cadburys where moving more production to Poland ,the only difference now is Kraft will get the flak for moving production away from the UK instead of it being Cadburys

That's right. That's why Kraft have just paid $11bn for Cadburys, because they are world renowned for producing tasteless ste rolleyes

Lol What I can't understand is why when superior American management arrives and presents opportunity to the suppressed english talent, why are they complaining? The Americans are great people to work for, if you are any good you shine. UK management always consists of halfwits like Mandelknob.

I would guess that much of the management steer would come from Europe, in particular Switzerland where much of Kraft's strategic operations are now based.

Obviously you have never tasted American chocolate. From a completely inbiased point of view, US chocolate is crap.

That being said, hershey has done a fairly good job at mimicking some of the Cadbury stuff (particularly the creme eggs - as they have the license in the US currently). However, given the choice, I always run over to the "British Section" of my local grocer to pick up chocolate. Even my son (who has never been to the UK) prefers a nice Yorkie or Cadbury from the UK to a Hershey bar.

You still be better off with a half decent Belgian or Swiss chocolate - Cadbury chocolate is far too sweet IMNSHO.

A company that makes something that's not fit to be called chocolate in most countries is bought out by a company that makes something not fir to be called cheese.

Sounds like a marriage made in heaven.

Quite. Let's not forget also that pre-buyout they'd gone through the process of outsourcing hundreds of UK back-office jobs to Genpact in India.

And Dairy Milk is nasty, fatty stuff for chavs. And again, pre-buyout, there's a very good chance that the bar you buy wasn't made in the UK either.

No help for us, Cadbury is made by Hersey under lic.
I have a neighbour who works for Hersey, although he always seems to be away, California and Germany . His wife gives us lots of chocs, most are typical Hershey and have that aweful powdery taste. They are a few however that are ok and very edible. I asked the guy about the nice one he said "most of those we give you are not production runs, they are limited and not for sale"
It appears Hershey can make half decent chocs, they just choose not to.

Ernest what do pay for a Mars bar in Florida?

Yes, they are world renowned for producing tasteless ste, because most people in this country don't have the first clue about what good food is.

I have tasted US chocolate, its even worse. That doesn't mean that Cadbury's chocolate is anything but rubbish.

$1.99 each at the local grocers for proper UK Mars bars. In fact, all UK bars (Cadbury, Yorkies, Aero, Mars, Turkish Delight, Milky Bars, etc) are $1.99 each. Worth it in my opinion. Only thing "bad" about UK chocolate is they have a hard time standing up to the Florida heat in the summer. Hershey bars, of course, can be blasted with a flame thrower and not melt. Probably why they taste like crap.

The chemicals which stop it melting give it that powdery texture and white appearance. Squaddies get this type of chocolate in their rat packs

Highly recommended:

http://www.cameronsbritishfoods.com/

They ship overnight with a freezer pack. I use them when I just need a lorne sausage fix or some meat pies. Their Pies are excellent. They also have all sort of nice chocolates. (Although - last time I ordered Fry's Turkish Delight and got the Cadbury bars instead)

They have Sherbert fountains too which my kids love. Good prices...
