I know they're an iffy state, but I do like the way they yank the west's, and particularly the USA's chain. Someone's got to do it.

Erm, it appears there will be a protest Thursday as per OP post. The mad mullahs have already said the blame the west. Hope its not a bloody crack down that puts the last one into the shade. This is starting to sound scary for the locals.

It’s the usual power game between super-powers, except there’s a new kid on the block in the form of China. The Russians fear Iran and China on different levels and for different reasons. In superpower terms, Russia is more ideologically aligned to the U.S. than it is to China these days. Regime change is the rolling agenda for the U.S. (and its democratic allies) Russia can do without the mad mullahs and their 2nd cousins, the even madder Islamists. The Russian – US nuke cartel will not allow disenfranchised nuke states. Obama’s cabinet are making escalating noises. For now, the Russians are ‘leaving Georgia alone’ for a reason…

The situation is beginning to shape up… when was the last time we heard similar words and sentiments like this from a beligerent tyrant that the west didn't want in power any longer?

Ahmadinejad has called the UN’s demand to inspect all of the country’s enrichment facilities “illegitimate”. Time and time again Iran announced that it would not yield to international pressures and its peaceful programme of uranium enrichment would remain unchanged.

And what happened?

Wow, exciting stuff.

Cue willy waving from everyone and nothing happening whatsoever at all.
I agree, they are not that stupid to do something outright substantial and give Israel the clear mandate to take them out.

Trouble is, Iran are touted as the bad man in the middle east for wanting to have a nuclear detterent and the situation is so often sold to us as 'Look at the IRanians destablising the region with their quest for nukes'. BUT, the balance of power is already out of kilter with Israel being the only nuclear power there.

Israel needs it she is surrounded
Israel did well enough without nukes. And the US buys off or trades with enough Muslim ME countries to mildly deter any direct action. US has given $28bilions to Egypt since the 70s.
That figure does not count the $34 billion in military aid to Egypt since that time.

"President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, told the rally Iran's enemies were using the nuclear issue and that of human rights to dominate the region.

He also said Iran had produced its first stock of 20% enriched uranium and could enrich up to 80%. "

"Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran's supreme leader, has said that the country was set to deliver a "punch" that will stun world powers during this week's 31st anniversary of the Islamic revolution."

From all reports, that 'punch' seems to be against his own people......again

Other than rambling about what we already know has anything interesting happened? Or is the usual empty words of dinner jacket?

The punch would seem to be the much anticipated confirmation of their ability to refine uranium to 20% purity (and by extension, the ability to further refine it into weapons grade uranium)

According to Dinnerjacket, its to be used to fuel a research reactor...........yet it's thought that they dont have the tech to make the rods out of the raw material.

Expect Israel to do somethin and WW3 to start shortly afterwards (maybe the Myans were right about 2012)
