Conservatives are the only real opposition.
Have you watched PMQs or read any of the recent stories about how the tories are constantly contradicting themselves, greenisms, infighting, all female candidate lists etc etc etc Nu Labia in all but name.At least, that's why I'll be voting Tory.

I think he meant that he wants Labour out at all costs, and voting Conservative is the only way to achieve that.

Be careful what you wish for, you may just get it....At least, that's why I'll be voting Tory.
(or something)
I am actually becoming as anti-conservative as I am anti-Labour (and I am a lifelong Thatcherite)

Conservative. Even though I much prefer UKIP's policies and feel somewhat of a sellout by not voting for them. But, can't risk Labour getting back in, and Conservatives are the only real opposition.
I'd vote Conservative on the balance of philosophies matching my own.But even if they didn't I'd do it for the reason you mention.
There is no party that represents my views completely. But there won't be ever...

As I say - I'm a sellout for not voting UKIP. But however well intentioned, all a UKIP vote serves to do is increase the chance of a Labour victory...and we can't have that.
Only because the tactical voters don't have enough confidence, look at the poll, UKIP is in with a better chance than you might think. IMO tactical voting is just another tool in the armoury of those who want us to maintain the staus quo, don't rock the boat, don't vote for loose cannons, vote predictably.I've said it before, but I think that keeping Labour in for another term to face up to their collosal fk up will be a fantastic way to guarentee that we never have another Labour government for generations - instead, the Tories will end up being the "party of the few" again as they tray and undo the economic miracle that was Winky Mcfkup's legacy.

It doesn't matter how badly either of the two main parties screw up - they will never be out of power for long. People are clamouring for the Conservatives right now. Just as they clamoured for Labour in '97. Assuming the Conservatives get in next, they'll screw it up in a decade or so and then everyone will be clamouring for Labour again. It's an endless cycle because people are fickle and have short memories. Labour staying in for another term won't ensure they never rise to power again - it'll just make sure we're in for an even rougher four years than we would be under the Tories.YAD061 said:

Were PH representative of the UK as a whole, then UKIP would be in with a chance. But PH sadly isn't representative. The reality is that all a UKIP vote does is split the Conservative vote and strengthen Labour's position. It's a sad state of affairs. Sadly though, it won't improve as long as people like me fear getting their third choice, by voting for their first choice. It sucks, but idealism aside, what can you do?Edited by wiffmaster on Thursday 11th February 10:05

I wouldn't be so sure. Winky is already meddling with the electoral system - one that already favours Labour by 10%. If they get in again he may well end up being Prime Minister for Life.jesusbuiltmycar said:

This is the problem, we have to break the System, we have to break the Institution, we have to break the Establishment, we have to change the Established Order.f**k me I sound like fluffnik.
The constituency I live in is a Tory safe seat with Lib Dems 2nd. Labour barely get a sniff.
I'll be voting UKIP to give the Tories something to think about as I am fed up with their Social Democratic, namby pamby , appeal to everyone, offend no-one lack of policies.
Interestingly, the Tory incumbent is retiring this year after 20 odd years and Boris Johnson's brother, Ed is being parachuted in.

Have a read of "Thought Control in Democratic Societies" by Noam Chomsky.
Eye opener. Interesting stuff (from a lefty).
My conclusion is that the only authentic parties in the whole election process are UKIP, BNP and the Greens. So, we have:-
UKIP: Right, Libertarian
BNP: Left, Totalitarianish
Green: Centre, Collective Liberals
WOW!!!!! a fking choice.
As it stands, you have (and will sure as eggs get when you vote).
Lib Dems: Collective Liberals
Conservatives: Colletive Liberals/3rd wayers
Labour: Socialists
Since the difference between the collective liberals and socialists is academic, for all intents and purposes, you can vote for a dash of "third way" and pin your hopes on that slim chance sorting the "problems" out.
Of course, all the others are not hardcore statesman, but are people like your dads/uncles who have got sufficiently angry to form aggregates. The greens are just bloody grown up "students". What would any of them know?
Vote for a change for fk's sake, otherwise you'll get more of the same.
There are a lot of deluded people on here who are adament that CMD and his lot have any integrity or policy. From what I've gleaned from the news/TV, CMD is a doubletalking snake in a similar vein to Blair. Is he following a party line, or his own line? What is he going to do, fuse us into the EUSSR? Have a capitalist revolution and take back the material goods stolen by people in council houses? Do nothing apart from talk and act sincere? Something else?
I don't know what CMD actually stands for. His rhetoric seems in the same vein as Brown's "Getting on with the job" style soundbite.
None of the top 3 parties are fit for purpose, they can't even pander authentically to the general public.
