The Argentinians can fkoff. They lost all claims over the island once they invaded them and had their arses handed back.

I hope we don't have to spank the Argies again. Gordon had better not negotiate a cut of the oil revenues to keep them quiet either.

If it does it won’t last long........................ however with Labour and winky involved, don’t expect the same outcome, they'll give the Falklands to the Argentineans, quicker than you can say "not many labour voters live there"

So broon is negotiating

Well i guess we give the argies

The falklands and all the oil

28 billion in compensation for beating them when they invaded

A free council house for everyone in argieland

3 container ships full of plasma tellys

The entire beatles back catalogue

The queen

Milton keynes

and in return we will get

A slightly rotten turnip

I don't think he's a good enough negotiator to get a slightly rotten turnip.

Replacing DPM with a camouflage designed for Afghanistan will prove to be a prudent expenditure at least.

And our Sea Harriers with AMRAAM will give us air superiority.

Good job we will be doing without Nimrod for a few years too, not that they could be useful in the South Atlantic.

Nothing will come of it anyway, sabre rattling from the Argies and no-one cares about the Falklands.

What Sea Harriers? Nu Labour grounded the Sea Harriers years ago on cost grounds. The GR Harriers don't have the Blue Vixen (?) radars for dog fighting that the Shars did...

Why are we discussing Harriers when the primary air defence capability of the Falklands are Tornado F3's?

'"Evidence exists that indicates that the freighter was to be used to supply material linked to oil industry activities that the United Kingdom is illegally promoting in the Malvinas Islands," the foreign ministry said, using the archipelago's Argentine name.'

(Ship it through Uruguay or Brazil, or straight from Ascension). Thank goodness, our government hasn't sold us down the river on this one, might be useful for our balance of payments, and security of fuel supplies, methinks.

'Britain in January rejected Argentina's latest claim to the islands, over which Argentina has claimed sovereignty since they were occupied by the British in 1833.'

I'm shocked Gordon Brown has grown a pair on at least one subject. He must be wishing he could start a quick winnable war with them to get re elected, oh hang on...

'Buenos Aires has urged a solution along the lines of what Britain agreed for the Chinese territory of Hong Kong.'

Lease it back for a hundred years, well they can F-uck Right Off! Freedom, and their land of those British Citizens, and the oil they sit on was paid for in full, in '82.

Will it kick off? Unlikely in my opinion, the Argentinian forces have been chronically underfunded since 1982 (Even in comparison to our own forces) and in the past 28 years we've shown consistently we're not afraid of sending the troops in.

With the oil down there, I can't see even Winky giving in on this one. Too much money to be placed into HM coffers.

They have some Typhoons there now,and retired the Tonkas.

Linky

Re the rotten turnip (or half thereof), I don't think that the Gauchos will accept Winky as part payment.

I love the way they refer to the islands by the Argie name - still. Jealous much?

You want it, come and get it. You'll get your ass handed back to you, again. This time what we're fighting for is on the table so there's a whole lot more to fight for.
If it does kick off, fingers crossed it'll only do so when (!?!) the tories get in - and they welcome the fight with the SAS/SBS/Marines/Paras open arms. It'd be CMD's first stand and would be a good reflection of the late 70's labour disaster followed by the tory revival of the once Great Britain.

Question is, who would the US back? Haven't the argies got their fingers in Obamas pants?
