Reading this, I have the vision of a bunch of students along the lines of Rik out of the Young Ones sitting around the kitchen table of some dingy flat in the early hours of the morning, coming up with great ways to solve the world's problems.

So I get half a week back; and get my salary reduced by half.

You are missing the point. We would all have so much time to be doing much more worthy things.

On the one hand, it is good that we have people who think a little bit laterally about the drudges of every day life but this release is surely just done as a PR grabbing exercise, in which case well done them.

Surely productivity is the key to boost economy?
How do you get funding to set up these foundations? I want to set one up that does research into how the economy would boost if people did more work for the same money. I shall call this the "stating the obvious foundation".

But would that mean that council tax, petrol, insurance, mortgages, food, etc, etc, etc would all reduce by half too? I could guess what the answer is .... here's a clue ... "the opposite of yes"It would make sense if we were starting from a clean sheet and everyone stuck to it. But when the cost of living is dictated by the current income, it would be impossible to survive on so few hours. And even if they did start with a clean sheet- the filthy industrious with their disgusting "work ethic" would end up earning more than everyone else by finding ways of doing more work, leading to a redistribution of wealth to those who worked more. Perish the thought.
