I'm sorry, but insulting people in public is just not on. I'm ashamed that Farage represents my nation abroad.
I'd be tempted to call him a , but that would be insulting him in public, so I won't.
At least he is standing up and saying something about us losing our rights.I'd be tempted to call him a , but that would be insulting him in public, so I won't.
Everyone else just seems to act like a nodding dog.

Van Rompuy is a public figure. Yes he insulted him... with the truth; and for that reason I don't see a problem with what he said, or hwo he said it. These elitist 'leaders' will given half a chance, insult you for the rest of your life, and it will be one-way only; you will never be given the opportunity to respond, unless of course you do what Nigel Farage has done, and get yourself elected into their inner sanctum.I'd be tempted to call him a , but that would be insulting him in public, so I won't.

Being the UKIP bloke, he's going to have a tough job getting much influence with the EU at the best of times. Things like this are only going to reinforce their views and undermine anything he says in future
No. UKIP's views are well enough known that they could not be hidden now. This might garner them some support here, or even allow other MEPs to put their own head above the parapet.Look at what has happenned to MMGW since Climategate. Only a few months ago the number and qualifications of people prepared to speak against it was so tiny they could be ignored. No longer.

There are ways of conducting yourself to achieve such things though - what he said may be true enough, but if you want to remain credible you've got to be a bit more subtle than that.
Do you think any of the other parties' MEPs will share a lunch table with UKIP? Their views are well enough known, have been since the name was coined. They could hardly get less support among the gravy trainers.Police State said:

If there is so much wrong with what these people stand for, and what they are trying to achieve, there is no need for cheap shots at their appearance.

So you're saying as they have no credibility within the EU anyway, they have nothing to lose by behaving this way? I guess it's one way of stimulating some publicity for their views!
Pretty much. The committed gravy trainers won't give them the time of day, nor the Commission. Yet, if he is seen as gaining public support here for being honest, there are other countries where the public are sceptical- look at the so-called 'Referendum' results. It might encourage other MEPs...AJLintern said:
Fair enough, but still maybe a bit OTT even for people who might support them. Attacks on someone's appearance is below the belt - he could have put forward basically the same argument without crossing that line.
I agree in part. But there's still a bit of a juvenile chuckle to be had at some of Farage's antics. His disrespect for their pomposity and sense of entitlement must drive them mental at times. elster said:

Do other european countries have their own version of UKIP, its just that we don't here about any other "opposition" parties?
Oh yeah. There are quite a few of them.Danish especially.

Farage an idiot? He's a ruddy sight more articulate than most twits we have, especially the lot we have at the moment.
It's about time we had someone stand up and 'tell it like it is'.
As for there being ways of conducting yourself in public... b*ll*cks!
This is where we have been going wrong.
Ruddy wet-nursed shower we have at the moment.
Van Rom 'pee all'o'erus' is described as a rat. Too true, and he's on the ruddy EU sinking ship, which our current shower would all jump with him, whereas Farage would be more likely to stay on the ship and help out.
We need a United Kingdom, with its Independence back!
