I reckon you should go round to those stores and ask for their leftover bacon. I reckon you would be quids in as there'd be tonnes of the stuff.

I don't understand the objection to this. I find it hard to believe that anyone who regularly eats KFC is concerned about animal welfare.
- or their own health. My parents 'local' is now a Halal shop - good prices (or used to be as we now find the cash and carry's in the Peoples.R.O.Tooting is cheaper) and an interesting range of foods that you won't find in ASDAs. This is a Daily Fail story.
I think their point is that now little Kyle and Chardonnay will be eating chicken which had its throat cut and bled to death in agony.

As I said, do we expect pickets from the vegan nutters? No, they haven't got the balls to picket mosques either.
Are you going to picket outside a synagogue too?

I doubt it.

This is a complete non-story which taps into the zeitgeist that exists that all things related to Muslims is bad. For your information, as has been pointed out here already, most of these chickens are stunned first then killed by throat slitting. Which is the same in kosher slaughter, though I haven't seen you getting so worked up about that, strangely.

As Tonker said, it's simple economics in those areas where they want to make sales. Frankly I don't give a toss as I wouldn't eat KFC if you paid me to.
I agree with 968 - non story. Non issue. My only requirement for any chicken that I eat is that it be sans feathers and not clucking.

biggrin
And you don't mind the bacon ban that goes with halal chicken?
Considering that the outlets that will stock halal chicken will serve a vast majority of people that don't eat bacon, I don't see a problem. It's probably wasted bacon anyway, that is never used in those stores.
The majority of stores listed on the KFC website that are going halal are not even close to having a muslim majority in the area of the store. Why should consumers who have used their local store for years now be denied the choice of bacon due to religious dogma believed by only 2.6% of the British public?

Honestly, who gives a st?
Two groups I would imagine -

1) Those that enjoy bacon in KFC products like the Texan Boxmaster. KFC have banned bacon in the shops trialing halal.

2) Those offended by the increasing creep of dark ages superstition and ritual into their everyday lives to satisfy the wants of a small minority who like to cower beneath their imaginary deity whilst executing his imaginary wishes.

smile
st, I didn't realise they were banning bacon. Heathens. I might make up some placards.

I only really care about 2) if it's curtailing my freedoms, reducing my choice or costing me money in some way. Basically they should be free to be as religious as they like as long as it has zero impact on me.

Its purely financial. Customers gained by being halal will be greater then customers lost due to no bacon products.

KFC in asian areas like Wembley, Southall etc have been Halal for ages - and are very popular as a result.

This IS interesting. Because, as has already been pointed out, the fact that the chicken is or isn't halal makes no difference whatsoever to the vast majority of people who eat in KFC. The bacon issue; maybe that does make a smidge of difference, but I'd wager it is none other than that - a smidge.

And yet there is (was) a huge facebook campaign against it? Perhaps they are campaigning less about KFC going halal and more about the creeping islamification of the UK; a trend which is very distasteful because of the uncreasing unpopularity of islam (and it's 'Teflon Status', as soov so elegantly put it.)

It's not salty enough, hence you need bacon. Apparently.

There is a bit of salt in the chook but they are the only chain that don't automatically spread the dessicated semen of satan on their chips so they're a win on that basis alone.

Simple economics really - religion doesn't have much to do with it

My point exactly. I couldn't care less about halal meat, it's when other freedoms of choice suffer I object.
