Today Winky McfkNut cannot even get one boat over to Europe to bring anyone back.

It's pretty impressive.

I would be pretty sure that anyone currently sitting in Calais would be only too happy to just stand in a cargo hold for a couple of hours in order to get home.

Why does this man never research a plan before going public with it and then finding out it doesn't work?

Tony Blair started all this crap by leaking ideas to the press to try and find out what people thought and it has just snowballed over the years.

That dumb retard Gordon could have been onto this last week and had it all sorted and just let the boats arrive to bring back Britons and scored a massive PR victory at a crucial time but even when something like this is gifted to him he still screws it up.

Surely, the most incompetetant, pathetic Briton alive today.

Health and Safety might be his concern. Besides, are there many people concentrated in one area?

If there was an election on he wouldn't even have tried one. These are people who are fed, watered and not being shot at. If they can't find their own way back, it's their lookout IMHO.

Exactly, but you would have thought he would have investigated all of this before standing up and saying he was sending the Navy.

Re inacting Dunkirk in the run up to an election would have been a populist coup. Saying you are going to do it and then failing is just so Brown it isn't true.

Err.

Their is a RN vessel (I forget which one) docked up in spain somewhere picking up troops that have been flown in from afghan (end of deployment etc) its also going to be collecting 200 ish british civilains too.

We dont have many active ships and what we do have will take some time to move to where they will be useful. These things take time.

ETA its HMS Albion and the port is Santander.

ETFA its picking up 3 Rifles, also Ark Royal and Ocean are also moving towards that port too.

Yesterday the headlines were all about the Royal Navy being deployed to rescue British citizens etc.

Three ships would be sent Gordon to the rescue, decisive action etc......turns out they sent one ship to pick up troops from Spain (rightly so) the other two for the citizens? Err...still not deployed a fact barely being reported.

That was the story yesterday but it would appear that information is filtering out today that this is all bks. The one ship is in Spain as scheduled to pick up troops but it would appear that there is nothing for civvies.

I can confirm Albion did also pick up civvies no idea on numbers though. As for the other 2 ships (ark and ocean) ive heard that they have been redeployed but from what your saying the person that told me is probably wrong.

erm if they hadn't evacuated from Dunkirk people may have died/been imprisoned. They were living in the open and supplies would have been low before they were picked up by the enemy.

Currently people are having to stay in hotels a bit longer/or hang about in temperature controlled airports with food a drink.

Bit different.

Very different, I agree. But my point is that if you are going to attempt to cash in for political gain on a serious historical event you could at least put a little effort into getting it right.

Rumor has it that the Royal Navy operations to pick up stranded
British tourists from Calais are delayed ...... Apparently when
they docked, the French surrendered.......

Yes, lets send hundreds of little ships over to France and bring back 1000s of illegal immigrants and smuggled drugs..............which is what the French or our customs control didn't want happening.

Or how about people use the normal routes of Channel Tunnel trains and ferries?

There's no need to send "rescue" ships over to the continent - there is plenty of spare capacity on the existing ferries.

I wonder also if the Ferry operators said something to Winky along the lines of "you take business away from us and we'll have you by the nuts". Imagine all the people planning on normally travelling back by Ferry suddenly having government mandated little ships freely available for use. Business nightmare and more cash out of the economy. Great.
