I think that if you are prepared to put yourself up to be elected in a country then you should also be prepared to live as close to the life of a citizen as possible, how else do you know what is going on? It's a risk, but one they should take IMHO.

Maybe those in government might realise how st public transport is, and be less willing to penalise the private motorist.

Except public transport in and into London basically works (as compared to the rest of the country).
