Do they think we are all dim witted.
Discussion
I expect there will be some debate on PH re Electoral reform. However this paragraph caught my eye.
The Telegraph said:
Earlier this year, the House of Lords Constitutional Affairs Committee concluded that there should be “a presumption against holding referendums on the same day as elections” because of the risk that voters would be confused and results distorted.
Do they really think the voting public are that stupid. More than likely having to turn out and vote in a referendum and local elections will lead to a low turn out than folk not understanding what they are voting for.colonel c said:

I hate to break it to you but the vast majority of people are as dumb as a bag of hammers.
Maybe so but anyone dumb enough to not know the difference between an election and a referendum is hardly likely to make a considered judgment either way. colonel c said:

Simple answer YES...and if you look at the standards now mostly applying in Britain I can wholely endorse it!Just look at the amount of fat chavs and lowlife scum inhabiting the majority of inner cities in GB nowadays....

Just look at the 2007 Scottish elections. Two different systems used for two different elections on the same day. The Regional and Constituency ballots were squeezed on to the same paper with a header saying "you have two votes". Many then put both votes in the Regional list rather than one in each. Hence record levels of invalid ballots.
From now on, local elections will be on a separate day to the Scottish Parliament elections.

Do some reading on IQ numbers. When a large number of people failed to hit 80, defined as mentally retarded, (100 being defined as average) the US redefined the definition of "mentally retarded" so as not to offend.
I bet there are millions in this country who would struggle to hit 80 too.
