I am beginning to wonder what they will do next and what the hell their plan is! Firstly there was good old Barack's finger pointing and bully-boy language about the spill, his insistance that BP foot the bill and more, insisting that BP were responsible for capping the well while at the same time stating he was in charge and his scientists were taking the lead. After that they submit BP's top man to a televised enquiry (bumming) where they give long winded emotive answers to their own 'questions'. Then we have the shakedown for billions of pounds, while Obama continually places doubt on the success of the well capping, and the revelelation that the disaster may not quite be so bad after all - surprise surprise! Now we have the bomber's release conveniently being linked to BP and another enquiry coupled with an assault on our sovereign decisions, while overlooking the fact that American companies are dealing with Gadaffi and the Libyans (what, punish the addict and reward the dealer?).

This should have been simply a matter of getting the oil spill sorted, punishing those responsible if proven negligent and using the experience to learn and improve future practice but that's not how things have panned out. There is something else at the root of all this, something simmering away underneath. Things will slot into place in time.

I think you are right, and I think it has to do with cancelling out sub prime etc....
