Nice discussion between the MP for the C18th today and the top chav. Rees-Mog is brilliant, easily the best Tory for me, his style is reminiscent of Corbyn. Chav was right on the LVT.

I saw that - a very good show!

The thing about Rees-Mogg, apart from his relaxing and assured delivery, is that everything he says is researched, informed and logical. So even when one has a different view and opinion it tends to be just that, an opinion. Based on feeling and 'belief' rather than actual reasoned argument. Which is why people like the en-jumpered one try to debate, they come out of it looking like the proverbial 7 year old saying, "But that isn't fair."

I wish our country wasn't so rife with reverse snobbery, that he would have a chance at leading the party, but he'd be as unelectable as Corbyn. Too many unthinking idiots would take against him as soon as they heard his voice and would never have the patience to listen through to his point. Or fail to get it.

Rees-Mogg is seen as ultra posh, for his diction and dress. The intellect is off-putting to the masses because it's scary to them. His ability to make his point accurately is misunderstood as arrogance. All these make him the most suitable 'leader', if only the resentment of lesser beings could be curbed. He's also very funny when he chooses to be; that too can be disconcerting. Now, if the others had his manners...

yes.
He comes across as a critical thinker. He listens to the other, and then responds with his answer based on logic. I do not know, but I feel he would change his mind if confronted with new data. Not normal for party soundbite hacks. The chav didn't engage too much because he didn't really disagree with the bare bones of the matter. Rees-Mogg didn't comment on the LVT thing.

Definitely better than last week's lineup, not saying much I know. Cannon fodder for Hitchens.

What has his school got to do with it? Are you suggesting that he would be any less intelligent or erudite, or naturally curious and interested in history, fact and logic had he gone to a state school? Snobbery at play, perchance?

He's talking a right load of nonsense at the moment about the former CC of A and S. Disappointing really, I used to think he was better informed.

Coren good, Hitchens is good if he can stay away from how it all fell apart in the 60's and his sky fairy.
The Tory/Labour drones are awful...leaves the Green as an unknown, we shall see my precious...

Nick Gargan. Former Chief Constable of Avon and Somerset. Rees-Mogg seems to be a fan.
