Maybe our team could do with some of that... not the whole death thing but torture... why not? It might actually motivate them to play some football...biggrin

In recent months, North Korea has executed two top officials – one who oversaw a recent disastrous currency revaluation and another in charge of diplomatic talks with South Korea. Both were subjected to the same sort of accusations of treachery before they faced the firing squad.
yikes That is some incentive to get things right.

I am amazed he did not defect. Then again, from sources the whole extended family would have found themselves in large internment camps never to be seen again.

The telegraph today report that the team were subject to a 6 hour public humiliation for their poor effort on their return to N.K... the coach has been ordered to work as a builders labourer...

Surely in skill-set, a builders labourer is above that of a footballer. Perhaps turd-raker would be appropriate.

Yep, but they were Japanese players who decided for whatever reason to play for North Korea .. and i imagine they didn't think it would be a good idea to go back via NK collect their respective 'trophies'.

They are mental. Totally mental.

"It was a good enough showing that Kim Jong Il took some credit for it: The team’s manager Kim Jong-hun told ESPN Thursday that the Dear Leader “gives regular tactical advice during matches using mobile phones that are not visible to the naked eye.”"
"Fabio......Queen here! Just look straight ahead and listen, we don't want the cameras knowing I am speaking to you. Right, get that farking Donkey Heskey off, tell Joe Cole to start warming up, Rooney to get one's finger out of one's arse, and let's have Crouchy on please? He has a great touch for such a big Man. And tell him if he scores, I want the Robot dance! Now get them to pull themselves together, I can't have Phillip's lot beating us 4-1"

I don't know but looking over the border the south side is covered in trees while the north has been almost completely denuded. Apparently they've all been used for fuel.

It does sound rather like the portrayal in Team America though. I'm so ronery...

I don't mean to sound a bit, well, you know, socialist or anything, but I do sometimes wonder how much of what we read about NK, (like above for example), is actually true, and how much is made up by western press?

I mean, come on...... phones that are invisable to the naked eye?
After speaking with members of the military "changing of the Guard" guys, sadly, I believe it is true. The way they are cannot stay status quo for too long IMO; it is unsustainable. For better or worse, it has to change.
