TopTip: Get a job and you won't be "poor".
Yes you will.

You're far better off not working and on benefits.

Don't blame these people. It's the system that's wrong.
This.
Amazing how much anger and hot air is aimed at the people who are being clever and making the most of the system.

I do my best to minimise the amount of tax I pay. What's the difference?

You contribute to society rather than bleed it dry?

A friend lives next door to a female chav with small child. She is an ex junkie who has probably never worked a day in her life. I was incensed profusely when a 40" plasma tv appeared. Then she had driving lessons free of charge. Now to top it all off she has an all expenses paid motability car, and not just a 5 grand Chevrolet Aveo, but a 2010 plate Polo TDI! Beggars belief.

She (or the kid) must qualify for the higher rate of the mobility component of Disability Living Allowance.

This is another one of those "the system is wrong" things - some people seem to get it easily, othere get denied it when it looks clear-cut. Chances are she's been trying to get it for years - getting DLA is a passport to all sorts of other benefits.

If you can afford a 3 wheeled push chair, a plasma, tickets to see family 'back home' and a staff dog then you are getting plenty.
Y'see, now. If anyone else had written that.......................biggrin

It really is a piece of piss to sort out the benefit system.

Give every adult in the country 12.5k, either as money, or as a discount from their taxes, or a combination of the two.

Give the relevant adults 5k for every kid in same way.

Provide proper services for cripples and retards.

That's absolutely all you need to do. Astonishingly simple really.

I'm a big fan of the flat rate payout ideas, but unfortunately it will never happen, no matter how much better it could be.

Too many people think that reducing the amount contributed by people who pay more tax is unfair to people who pay less tax. Totally illogical but completely endemic.

Handing out money as though it is free will always have the same result. Go try it on a street corner, with your own.

All benefit systems are handing out money for free.

Don't just blame the system, either. It's the system and the attitude of the people that are wrong.

True, if someone is stupid enough to hand out free money, people will take it. Trouble is, some regard it as a second 'job'
Sorry but Self respect should play a part here ?

20 yrs ago I would have been £5 a week better off not working ,so I did 2 jobs & overtime to make sure work paid & on top of which I felt better for it !! Languishing all day long is no good for anyone's physical or mental health.

Or just a flat rate for every adult. Even more astonishingly simple.

People on minimum wage are still incredibly poor.
Incredibly poor?

Do me a favour!!

I think a lot of people who plead 'poverty' in this country actually have no real idea what 'poverty' actually is.

FFS.
Too right. Poor is when you have to live with your family under concrete bridge supports with the walls made out of cardboard and bin liners.

Well you start off with alow paid job and pick up valuable skills and experience. You then petition your boss for a rise or you take you skills elsewhere. If said skills and experience are indeed valuable someone will pay you more for them. You continue this process until you are in the well paid job you desire.

It's abit like huge multinational businesses. You don't start off with a huge multinational, you start off small and then prove you are good at whatever your business is, you expand and buy out your comepetitors and et voila, sometimes you end up with a huge multinational concern. Generally, you dont apply to NatWest for a loan of 15 billion to become one of the worlds major car manufacturers.

Or you could just whinge a bit and expect to walk into a dream job. You know, like you are clearly entitled to.
