"England's Green and Prejudiced Land" - S. Times Mag, p16
Discussion
Cant deny the stats which show disproportionate levels of minorities in crimes.
Sure it could be cultural reasons and educational issues etc.... until you look at Africa and see what goes on there in the 21st century. Hmm..
Who knows. At the end of the day people are free to choose to commit crime or not irrespective of skin colour.
Plenty of chav trash around too. Sarah Matthews anyone?

I get fed up hearing how prejudiced this country is. Clearly the authors of trash like that have never been abroad and seen just how prejudiced other nations can be.
Just thinking the same, David James is free to upsticks & take his family to a greener & less prejudiced land if he's not happy with this one (& if he can find one that will have him).I'd be amazed if there wasn't a considerable amount of prejudice. At some point you have to face up to the fact that people are instinctively prejudiced.
Discovering the neighbour is a BNP moron; not great. Teachers assuming you're going to be a worse pupil; pretty bloody unhelpful.
But one kid pointing out to another that he has big nostrils? Really, what do you expect kids to do? Of course they're going to be curious about difference. It is inevitable. And if you are the one black kid in the class, then you are going to be visibly different from your peers and your appearance is going to be the source of some curiosity. You can rightly expect the school to anticipate this problem and to actively try to manage it, but that is all that they or anyone else can do - try to manage it. No one can be expected to magic the problem away.

That's not the issue; the fact that belguim or wherever is worse does not make any difference to the guy's (or that of his family) daily life, does it?MX7 said:
I'm not sure why he's trying to make Lewes look bad. There's nothing he says that you won't find elsewhere. Seems a fairly stupid article.
For what it's worth, the BNP got 594 votes in Lewes at the last election, out of 50,000+.
He wasn't trying to make Lewes look worse than anywhere else. He was just using it as an example of a provincial, majority white, "nice" British town For what it's worth, the BNP got 594 votes in Lewes at the last election, out of 50,000+.

Got the feeling he could have moved just about anywhere and written the same article.
+1. He didn't even have to move far from Brixton, try somewhere a bit nearer in Surrey, and people are a bit less London'y - whatever that is. I do feel a bit sorry for him to have not realised about his neighbours hobbies - it may not bother some people, but it would freak me out a tad.Tsippy said:
Yet if we were discussing somewhere like Saudi Arabia or Japan and their 'prejuduce', it's considered "deeply cultural"
Funny how perceptions are different depending on which race the writer wants to slag off
True that; Asians can be some of the most racist people on the planet. Funny how perceptions are different depending on which race the writer wants to slag off
