Changed his views from Communist to SNP over the years and became a highly respected journalist. The sort of trade union leader that is sadly lacking today.

Absolutely!

Some may have not liked his views at the time, but what he did, was done with a passion. Sadly his type are missing today, whether that is good or bad is a different discussion though.

A work-in rather than a strike. Is it catching?

Although I have some admiration for Reid, BBC Radio have had a field day over this. Extracts of his speeches from the past, and eulogies from other union leaders. Totally out of proportion for a 3 or 4 minute news cast.
