Just saw the trailer for a show about whether he should / shouldn't do it.

My feeling is yes.

If not, then WTF has he been trained to do?

confused

Not a case of should he/shouldn't he.

He wants to. Let him.

Yes, he wants to, he's been trained to, I think there maybe a security issue but not enough to stop him going.

Yes I missed that off, however I'm not sure it will be his decision.

As someone in the RAF, yes he bloody should. From what I understand he's a talented pilot and should be on the DWR list the same as the rest of us.

He should, but don't bloody broadcast it all over the news. Taliban would be on bonus points for him.

Yes, otherwise why join up. It's his decision anyway

I agree with yes, it's the media angle I was on about, hence the programme.

Just to be controversial, how much of a PR boost (with associated recruitment/funding boost) would the insurgents get if he got killed?

I agree he should be allowed to fight but I do think that's a good reason to ensure he's kept as safe as possible.

Because he would be such a publicity coup for the bad guys if they managed to take him alive.

Even wounded or dead he would be absolute gold.

And if they knew where he was it would put his comrades at greater risk and that's unacceptable.

This. Which is why Harry was pulled out early when the media got wind he was there. I think the OP means William, who's the pilot and has just passed out of SAR school.

Providing he is not putting any other memebers of his team in any extra danger then, yes, he should fight / fly. IMO

Otherwise why else join up?

He already has. It's William who has been prevented from doing so, which is fair enough, given the propaganda coup it could deliver to the Taliban. Plus flying a helicopter over the Irish Sea in a severe gale whilst plucking sailors off a shipwreck is not exactly sitting on your arse doing nothing, is it?

THIS.

He has had the required training and is said to be good at his role as pilot so he should be sent to a post where he will be in a position to use his skills and benifit others. However if by having him in the middle east it becomes a burden on those around him, eg if he has extra troops for cover/support that others wouldn't get then i fail to see the added value of having him there.

Pretty sure it is all about Prince Harry flying Apache in Afghanistan.

I think let him.

The whole reason for letting him learn to fly the apache was that it was the only way he could get back to the front line - after the media coverage prevented him doing it as a soldier.

Would be dumb now for them to change their mind an not let him!

Unless of course they discovered that the baddies are buying all of the anti-aircraft missiles they can to try to bring down every apache they can until they get him!
