As we all know, there is a bit of an economic downturn at the moment.

Many EU countries are in deep financial shyte

Some are deeper in than that.

I have a sneaking suspicion that EU contributions, from any member state, will not be increasing much in the immediate future. Indeed, the article itself makes it quite clear that it isn't only UKIP Nige who has a bee in his bonnet over it. Far more important people than him are against it - like the Council of Ministers

Thank GOD we didn't join the euro especially since if we were we'd have to chip in to the pigs for that special loan... When we have nothing to loan to begin with.

I think we need to reduce them by 100%, get out, and govern ourselves.

Nigel is one of the most important people in the EU, one of the few people willing to speak out. The rest including the council of ministers . . . just sheep all voting for more feed.

I have some empathy with UKIP Nige because he is a smoker, like me.

On his (and UKIPs) stance on Europe, I could not disagree more, but that is beside the point. This will not happen because the Council of Ministers will oppose it, not because UKIP Nige opposes it.
