Why can't those protesting understand the simple concept that they won't pay anything unless they can afford it? All those I've seen interviewed have said that many can't afford £9000 a year to go to university. The fact is that they don't have to pay £9000 to go to university and if they do go, they won't have to pay a penny when they finish.

Eventually, when they start earning over a certain amount (£21,000) they will start to pay a small part back to the tax payer and a bit more when their salary increases. All at a very, very low interest rate that no one else can obtain.

What's so hard to understand about this? Why are their so many thick students who are even allowed to qualify for university if something so simple is too complicated for them?

Any students on here like to explain why this is the case?

I wondered about this too - the system that the government want to bring in actually seems fairer and easier on students - and yet they're protesting about it.

confused

I'm surprised no students have popped up yet to tell us we are all wrong and that it's all the governments fault.

It's orchestrated political activism. Toytown trots are out to 'topple the government' according to some union troglodyte in a newspaper this morning.

Because they are being steered by the communist party and the Labour wasters and a bunch of LSE trotskyists.....
These always pick the dumbest... i.e. too dumb to put a decent question but dumb enough to swallow all their propaganda!

I am paying nearly 2.5K a year in tuition fees for my C and G course. I wish someone would let me have a student loan frown

Quite unbelievable what Clare Solomon has been saying on Sky News. She recons she was 'kettled' for 8 hours. What does she expect when public property which someone has to pay for is getting damaged? She talked about 13 year old kids being kettled as part of the demo but what are kids that yound doingthere anyway? Surely the police and social services should remove anyone under 16 from such places and have their parents prosecuted for child neglect. She also announced the next (pointless) demo next Tuesday, 30th November. Well, the temeperatures will be plummeting by then, so I don't see it being much above 0C during the day, so at least that's good news.

Good news if you're manning a nice cold water cannon smile

As for Clare 'Sponger' Solomon, this would also happen to be the same woman who claimed that during the first student march at Millbank she had no evidence of students being violent.

That ought to be a significant deterrent.
Not sure I've seen it on a thread (though something about Inspectorial bloggery comes to mind) but wasn't it also confirmed that the student allegedly seriously injured by a police baton was actually hit by a lump of concrete thrown by another student? This was supposed to be the reason why that story went quiet.

If so then should vt emerge, surely the student who threw the concrete would be facing similarly serious charges and face a similar sentence if convicted.

I'm quite pleasantly surprised by that sentence - I expected a slap on the wrist.

There's a certain irony I guess in fking up your entire life entirely through your own fault whilst out on a protest against something you thought would make your life slightly more difficult.

My word. hat is a better result than I feared too.

Credit to him to standing up and taking his medicine. I only hope that the obnoxious ones realise its not so funny now.

One would hope in the event that the concrete block thing is proven those same obnoxious ones will be just as vocal in their apology to the police as in their critisism.

32 months seems about right as would 15+ years if he had killed someone.

However, the prison nonces will like having a piece of young left-wing sphincter, he'll soon need a fire extinguisher to cool his 'arris down. woohoo

The one from the poster just above you or the one who was lucky not to kill someone?
