Someone mentioned tax - but it was also chosen as a more "central" location given that the world's biggest cricket playing nations are India and Pakistan. And that Australia and New Zealand are important cricketing countries too. It was thought better to have an HQ mid wway between the various cricketing countries.

That reminds me, and when I think about it I cringe, must have raised a laugh or two. When I was 15 I joined the R.N., and went into communications, morse code etc.

One of the written papers asked what ..-.. was, (I could be wrong, long time ago), anyway it was that letter "a" with a dash on the top of it, (A diacritic marks I think - so it becomes a acute letter I think), anyway I couldn't remember it so I actually wrote down "Its a french letter", so innocent thems days?

Oh and Eric, I said that in tounge in cheek. Yes they did invent some good stuff.
